Undivided care and attention
Pet care experience
I know how nerve-racking it can be to leave your pup with someone new. My goal is to make your dog feel safe, loved, and truly at home while you’re away. My own pup, Ralphie, and his Brother, Ollie, are currently at home in Phoenix with their other parent (my partner) while I’m in Charlotte for a work assignment this year. They're doing great there, but I miss having dogs around to walk, play with, and care for. So while I don’t have any pets in my home right now, I’m excited to give yours my full attention and care. I’ve grown up with all kinds of rescue dogs, including my family dog (Auggie), and adopted Ralphie when he was just a few months old. I understand that dogs have their own personalities, quirks, and needs. Whether they’re shy, playful, anxious, or a little bit of a handful, I’m always patient and focused on making sure they’re comfortable and never in a situation that feels too much for them. Over the years I’ve helped care for many dogs—through Rover, for friends, coworkers, and of course, my own. I know how much trust it takes to leave your pup in someone else’s hands, and I’m here to give you peace of mind. I’m always happy to share updates, photos, and anything else that helps you feel connected and reassured while you’re away.

Ruby has done such an excellent job walking our dog, Bella, that we booked her again and again….

Ruby is an excellent walker! She was on time and provided good feedback about her walk with our dog, Bella. Most importantly, Bella was always excited to see Ruby.

Ruby took excellent care of my dog Edie. Edie can be very anxious at new places and when I leave. Ruby paid extra attention to her and made sure Edie felt comfortable when I dropped her off. It was so wonderful to pick up a happy pup at the end of my trip who was clearly in very good care. Thanks, Ruby!

Ruby was awesome! She took Gertie for runs/walks every day. She sent us some of the best pictures of Gertie ever taken, and Gertie stared at the door when Ruby left. We would use her again later in the month, but she'll be in London. Great experience!

Safety, trust & environment
As a dog owner myself, I take safety seriously—not just in theory, but in the little, everyday things that can make a big difference. Whether it’s checking that doors and gates are secure, keeping harmful foods and objects out of reach, or making sure leashes and harnesses are fitted correctly, etc. I’m not someone who takes shortcuts or assumes things will be fine, and I’d rather double-check and prevent anything from happening in the first place. I’m very aware of safety precautions and signs/symptoms, and I only host one dog at a time, so your pup won’t have to share attention or space. After having Ralphie as a puppy, and rescuing Ollie from an unsafe environment, I’ve also learned how to stay calm and think clearly if something unexpected comes up. Whether it’s breaking up an off-leash interaction, noticing signs of stress or illness, or spotting something that could become a problem, I know how to respond quickly and appropriately. I’ve dealt with everything from upset stomachs and accidents to pulling dogs away from unsafe objects or redirecting behavior mid-walk. It’s important for me to always follow your preferences when it comes to dog parks, meeting other dogs, or anything outside their normal routine. I’ll never make those calls without checking with you first.

Information Ruby C. would like to know about your pet
How are they in the car? If the space is fenced, are they okay being off leash? How are they with other dogs? What is there eating/ treat schedule and policy? Do they have any allergies? Are they protective or territorial of anything? Please let me know of anything that may be of importance before I take care of your dog. I want to make sure that everyone has the best experience and that everything runs smoothly!
A typical day
A typical day with me is all about what your dog needs to feel happy, safe, and comfortable. I’ll follow your pup’s routine as closely as possible and make sure their day is filled with the right balance of activity, play, rest, and attention. We usually start the morning with a walk—whether it’s a quick potty break or a longer stroll to get some energy out, depending on your dog’s needs. If they’re more active, we can go for a jog or play in the dog run right outside my building. After breakfast and some hangout time, they’ll either relax with me while I work from home or settle into a comfy spot while I’m out for a few hours if I’m working in office (never for long). I make sure they always have water, a cozy spot, and some quiet enrichment to keep them content. I’m used to my own dog, Ralphie, being obsessed with enrichment toys and chews, so I’m happy to prepare a stuffed Kong, puzzle toy, or provide supervised chew time to help your dog stay stimulated and relaxed. I’ll also make sure anything they’re given is safe, appropriate, and cleared by you first. In the afternoons or evenings, we’ll head back outside for another walk or a longer adventure if that fits your dog’s style. With your permission, we can explore places like Skiptown, the Whitewater Center, or just stick to a quiet route around the neighborhood. If your dog prefers a slower pace or just wants to relax indoors, I’m great with that too. Whether your dog wants to play, explore, nap, or just hang close by, I’ll make sure they’re getting exactly what they need—and that you stay in the loop with updates and photos.

I’m an early riser and have always started my day with a walk—especially when I had Ralphie with me. I’m used to getting out early before the heat kicks in, and I’m happy to keep that same routine for your pup. Whether they need two solid walks a day, a run to get their energy out, enrichment toys, or just some dedicated playtime, I’ll make sure they’re mentally and physically fulfilled. I’m an active person by nature, but I also love downtime and never mind a snuggle break on the couch. I work at Honeywell and have a flexible hybrid schedule, where I work from home 2-3 days a week, and the office 2-3 days a week, but only for a few hours at a time—and I can choose which days and even what time I go in. If I’m caring for your dog during the week, I’ll plan around their needs. It’s rare that I’m ever gone a full day in the office, and if that ever did happen, I would let you know ahead of time, and I live close enough to come home and check on them. I can also swap which days I go in to make sure I’m home while your dog is with me. I live in a second-floor apartment in Lower South End, walking distance from Skiptown and the rail trail. The building includes a private dog park, a dog run, and a dog spa (which I’m happy to use at no extra cost). My 1 bedroom apartment has a cozy balcony where your dog can relax and watch the world go by, a comfy couch they’re welcome to snooze on, and a big bed if they want to sleep with me! On weekends and after work, my plans are with your dog. If you’re comfortable with it, they’ll come along with me—whether that’s to Skiptown, the Whitewater Center, the dog park, or just out for a long walk. I’m really just happy to spend time with them and make sure they’re having a good day.
