Flexible, personalised care with love & adventure

Pet care experience

I have been dog walking and pet sitting for the last 5 years, regularly caring for different dogs of a variety of breeds from cavapoos to huskies. I have completed lots of walks, drop-ins and sits for dogs and cats on Rover. The past year I have been house and pet sitting around Australia caring for lots of dogs big and small, cats, rabbits and Guinea pigs and even a snake. I am now back in the UK and working at Village Pets, a lovely boarding kennel in Milton Keynes. I absolutely love working with our dogs that board and come for day care, we work with a huge variety of breeds and every dog is different! It has taught me valuable skills in dog care and really brought home that each dog has their own unique needs. It has taught me to think on my feet well and monitor dog body language and behaviour. While I see lots of happy dogs at the kennels I do believe that some dogs find house sitting more enjoyable and comfortable which is why I continue to work with Rover. I grew up with dogs in the home, my first pet was a yellow lab who I cared for for 14 amazing years. Ever since I’ve always gone out of my way to be around dogs and care for animals, regularly sitting for friends and family while they are away or popping in for the odd walk. I also have experience caring for cats and small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs. In short I’m very easy going and flexible. I’m not easily phased and genuinely enjoy taking the time to get to know dogs individually to learn how to best care for them and build a relationship. I’m experienced looking after puppies and continuing the training approach used by the owners, as long as this is explained to me. I’m also experienced caring for senior dogs, including administering oral medicine. My approach will depend on individual needs so I’m happy to spend some time chatting to you and getting to know your dog in the first instance.

Thank you Rosalind for looking after my cats whilst away and for sending updates and pictures. Great job and I’d be more than happy to use your services again

Rosalind is reliable, trustworthy and a true dog lover. She has had dogs in her family from a very young age and always taken responsibility to look after them. I have been on many dog walks with Rosalind and she always makes it so fun for the dogs while being able to control them when needed. My dog loves her! I would always trust her to take my dog for a walk or to look after full time while I am away.

Rosalind has looked after our two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels on many occasions. She is obviously a dog lover and they are always excited to see her. We highly recommend Rosalind as a dog carer.

Safety, trust & environment

I am experienced in looking after pets within their own home and respecting boundaries put in place by the owners e.g. if the pet is not allowed on furniture. I have experience with reactive dogs and rescues who have been a little nervous to have someone new in their home and I am happy to meet in another location first or go for a walk to build that relationship and make sure they are comfortable with me.

Information Rosalind H. would like to know about your pet

How is your dog on the lead, what kind of length walk best suits your dog, how is your dog with other dogs? What is your dog’s typical routine with walks and feeding, are there any medication requirements I need to be aware of?

A typical day

My favourite thing to do is go for Walkies. There are lots of great places to go near me, a big park just down the road for shorter walks and a beautiful canal walk for a longer distance. If your dog is happy in the car, a trip to the woods could be a fun adventure too. I also have a few stimulation treat games that most dogs really enjoy.
