Pet care experience
A self-employed consultant and college adjunct professor who works primarily online and has a flexible schedule, I have the time to take your dog out to play or on long walks. I'm a Dad of 3 grown kids, all dog lovers too! I grew up with primarily large and medium-breed dogs and have had dogs since I was old enough to afford my own apartment. Currently, the proud owner of a hound-mix, but over my many years as a dog owner, I've had every type of dog imaginable, from husky to german shepherd to labrador retriever to a poodle, to blue healer and golden mixes. An active gardener, I am happy to water plants indoors or out. If your dog sheds and brushing is required, I am happy to do this too! I will take care of your pets and property as if they were my own. I'm also glad to pick up your mail and newspapers and place them somewhere safe in the house. Let me know when the trash pickup is and where the garbage cans go; I can take care of that too.
Reviews
Our meet and greet went very well! Ron took notes about Max's routine and let Max get to know him. We hired him for several days to mid day walk Max. I was very impressed with the feedback we received. Distance of the walk, time it took and plenty of pictures. We've already booked Ron for future walks and stays!
Ron was extremely helpful and very good with communication. He did a great job with my two cats and two dogs. He even won the affection of my extremely suspicious terrier.

Dog Moms and Dads know best! Dogs love routine. I will do my best to learn about and follow your ways when caring for your household and pets. The more precision you can provide about your dog's routine, the better. Please tell me about medications and how your dog likes to take them, where you go to walk, and any dogs your dog may not like along the route. If your dog is protective, even if we have had a meet and greet, I prefer to be there at the time of your departure so that your dog doesn't see me as an intruder.
Information Ronald R. would like to know about your pet
Dogs are all different, just like people! Knowing your dog's routine and social skills with humans and other dogs (or lack thereof) is helpful. What basic commands does your dog know, and what are they still learning? How do your walk on a leash, collar, or harness? How does your dog play, and what makes them happy? How does your dog like to be petted? How is your dog in the car if I'm taking it to a park, and what is your usual walking route if we are going around your neighborhood? If I am dog-sitting, where is your dog allowed (or not) in your home? When does (s)he eat, and how much? Where is the food stored? What medications does your dog require? Where are those kept? What frightens them? What gives them joy? In sum, what would you tell your Mom or Dad if they were coming to stay with your dog?
A typical day
I like to take dogs to around your neighborhood or to public parks like Lake Shore Park for on-leash exercise, or if your dog plays well with others, I can take your dog to a nearby bark park with a fenced-in run where they can go off-leash and acquire additional doggy social skills. I have taken canine customers to dog parks throughout the city, including in Old City, Victor Ashe, Holston River, and Plum Creek. I have even taken large dog customers to Seven Islands to smell the smells and have a long walk on its grass-covered trails.

Availability
My schedule is flexible, particularly in the afternoons or late mornings. For extended stays, assuming you have internet, I will work from your home all day, breaking up my day with up to five walks per day, depending on your pet's needs. I will leave for a couple of hours to have dinner with family, then return to your home for an evening walk and overnight with your pets. I prefer advance notice for more extended house-sitting needs but if you're in a pinch because someone canceled, try me.
