Hiker looking for dog time

Pet care experience

Hi, my name is Robin and I'd love to tire out your pet :) My wife and I are both animal lovers who started dog/cat sitting in college for our Professors during winter and spring breaks. After we graduated and moved, we started watching pets for our co-workers, roommates, and friends. We both love animals, but we also love to travel and don't want to have our own right now. Currently, my wife and I are renting, so we can not board any pets. If you have a high energy dog, and would like to book me for 2 + hour hikes, I would love to do that. I always hike with a collapsible water bowl, 3 liters of water, an emergency location beacon, bear spray, and first aid kit. For these long hikes, i would do them after work Mon-Fri, starting between 3pm-5pm, and charge a custom rate of $20 for the whole hike plus $5 per extra dog. I would always let you know the location, distance, time, etc. of the hike, and can do longer or shorter ones based on your preference. If there is a certain hike you want me to take them on, I will gladly do it :) I drive a Subaru Outback, so I would transport your pet in the back for safety. I also do 3-5 miles jogs weekly, so if your dog would do better with a 30 min run instead of walk, I would gladly do that. I I have experience with all sizes of dogs, from Great Danes to Chiwawas. I also have experience working with dogs that have leash aggression, and using e-collars and prong collars. I am not qualified to train leash aggression dogs, but can take them to a safe environment to get their energy out. I work remote right now and have a very flexible schedule, so I can also do drop ins, or work from your place and hang out with your pet for the day.

Robin takes great care of my border collie Amos and always brings him back very tired and happy. When I have long days doing field work, it's really nice to know Amos gets the exercise he needs. Whenever I have delays getting back to town, Robin has been very flexible and accommodating. Highly recommend to anyone with a dog that needs more than a 30 min walk.

Information Robin K. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know, how well they get along with other dogs, do they have reliable recall, do they have any history of aggressive behavior, and do they have any medical issues. I will hike your dog on leash or off, depending on your preference. If we run into other dogs on trail, my preference is to have them leashed and step off in case the other dog is aggressive. Let me know if your dog needs any special handling for aggressive behavior. I have experience handling dogs with leash aggression, but would need to observe a walking session to understand their triggers and how big their bubbles are. I have experience with e-collars and prong collars as well. I would not feel comfortable bringing a dog with leash aggression to high use trails or areas with lots of other dogs.

A typical day

I'm very active and love to be outdoors, so if you have a dog that will go for hikes, or just to the park on a sunny day, I'd be very happy.
