Dog deprived professional.

Pet care experience

From a young age through to the present day, I’ve trained and taken care of a total of 7 family dogs (1 Chesapeake Bay Retriever, 3 Golden Doodles, 1 Lhasa Apso, 1 English Mastiff, & 1 German Shepherd), and have also assisted many friends in the babysitting and / or training of their dogs. While I am not a professional dog trainer, I am 100% confident in my ability as an exceptionally competent and caring dog sitter / walker. I am basically obsessed with caring for and spending time with dogs. They are mankind’s greatest gift, and they deserve our utmost love, guidance, and reciprocity. I work mostly remotely recently, and find myself extremely dog deprived. I’d be more than happy to care for, spend time with, play with, or exercise with (jogs or walks as requested) your 4 legged best friend as if she/he were my own.

Robert was absolutely phenomenal! Booking with him was my first experience with Rover and he was super kind and willing to work with us despite the last minute booking. I was only in the area for a bit otherwise I would definitely be scheduling another time to have Maeve stay with him.

Robert communicated well before and during the booking. I got plenty of pictures of my dog having fun while I was away. Robert even took the extra time to work on training while sitting- would recommend!

Robert was a great communicator and caretaker! The first person I'll ask next any time I need a dogsitter.

Safety, trust & environment

A detailed report from the owner is always key to me beginning my understanding of the particular dog. Good communication between the owner and I is key. I always calmly and observantly build trust and rapport with the dogs from the moment I meet them until they are returned to their owner. I make sure that my entire apartment space is free of objects / items that could be at all hazardous to the dog. There are always comfortable spaces to relax and play. I find that a calm but leadership oriented demeanor, combined with play (if the dog likes to), affection, and trainer treats go a long way in building trust with a dog. Although I live in apartment, there is a dog run attached to the side of my building for potty breaks (but I am also happy to walk them to additional areas nearby for going potty). The dog’s physical and emotional needs are always paramount. A full and clean water bowl, food (in the owners desired amounts of course), small dog friendly treats (as prescribed by owner), and lots and lots of affection are readily and continuously provided. I am more than happy to fulfill any special requests by the owner.

Information Robert S. would like to know about your pet

I would of course first and foremost like to know about any medical needs. An outline of the dogs typical behavior and personality, and favorite foods / activities is also great. Please just let me know if your dog has any special needs or preferences that I can take care of! I haven’t met a breed that I didn’t love, and I enjoy open lines of communication between myself and the owner!

A typical day

I like to make sure that the dog stays engaged mentally and physically. A typical day would look like a walk outside, and if the dog seemed up for it (with the owner’s permission / request) maybe even a light jog in Forrest Park (2 minute walk from where I live). We would absolutely explore the outdoors (weather permitting), and spend a lot of time playing fetch, tug of war, or any other games. Any tricks the dog knows would be reinforced with small trainer treats, and positive encouragement. Once the pup was ready to wind down, we’d relax and read a book or watch a movie (no promises that I can successfully make your dog fully literate). There’d be lots of affection including belly rubs and scratches behind the ears.

Availability

While I work full time (mostly remotely recently), I do still have a good degree of personal flexibility. Half hour / full hour long walks, jogs, or play days are no problem for me (as long as scheduled in ahead). There is some flexibility (depending on my work schedule that given week) for all day dog sittings which would always include as many play times, walks, or bathroom breaks as needed or preferred. Overnight sittings usually would be available as well. If I ever have too busy of a day or week for the requested time or task, I would always let the owner know ahead of time and decline to accept the sitting, walk, or overnight sitting. Once I have accepted a given request, I will ALWAYS complete it diligently and put the care and attention of the dog first.
