I believe each dog is a individual and should be treated as such. Whether high energy or slow moving I believe the key is interaction and socialization. I have worked for two years at my local dog park and have volunteered at the animal shelter. My favorite thing to do at each is interacting with each new dog and sharing the potential and current owners with information. I prefer playing with dogs because I believe it provides both exercise and learning opportunities for both the dog and the owner. I currently have two dogs. One is a Basenji mix and the other a Dachshund mix. I adopted the Basenji mix from a shelter in San Francisco. He was a challenge . He was a escape artist and would attempt to get away at every opportunity. Through positive reinforcement, socialization and repetitive encouragement I now have a friend who never wants to leave my side. My Dachshund mix is a feisty little girl who my first dog adopted off the streets .The Basenji is 12 now and the Dachshund 4 year keeps him on his toes.
