Force-free dog trainer / vet tech!
Pet care experience
I am a skilled dog handler with experience in force free and positive reinforcement training - my focus is in beginner to intermediate obedience, which includes teaching your dog communication skills, loose-leash walking and strong recall. Giving your dog adequate mental stimulation, as well as physical stimulation, and helping them learn to be polite and focused is paramount to me. I have veterinary technician experience working with dogs and cats and am skilled in administering medication (including insulin and other injectable meds) and animal first aid. I work with all dogs regardless of breed, size, or age - puppies and senior dogs welcome! I am available any day of the week and at any time for pet sitting, dog walking, training sessions, and drop ins. I am interested in setting up long term set schedules to give your dog a healthy and stimulating routine. Although I may offer this service in the future, I am not currently boarding or providing daycare in my home at this time. If there are dog parks or walking trails near your home I would love to take your dog(s) on field trips!

I have a senior dog, that requires some special care. She sometimes has difficulty walking, and needs to go at her own pace. River has always been very patient with my old girl, always very caring. My baby girl G always gets excited when she sees River, I honestly would trust River to care for my dog over my own family!
I have 3 lovely cats named Marcy, Simon, and Milo, and a forth very elderly cat named Casey that passed away last year. River is our favorite care-taker by far! She assisted with giving Casey her medications and helped me make her as comfortable as possible near the end of her life. She was great to be able to rely on during that tough time. She's always there whenever I'm out of town (even for weeks at a time) or just need a little extra support. The food and water bowls and cat boxes are always clean and tidy, and my babies are always happy and healthy when I return home. She's been a top notch vet tech and dog trainer for many years, so no matter what kind of animal you keep, River knows how to care for them with love. I know I can always count on River!
I have a very large, anxious and beautiful doberman named Viktor and River is our favorite babysitter! Viktor used to pull a lot while walking on a leash and after working with River his loose leash walking skills have improved dramatically. Walking from the car to the dog park was always a hassle but River helped us make it a calm experience before playtime. She even taught him how to jump through a hoop; mental stimulation is so important to us! When I go out of town River also sits my long haired cat Foxy and he is always well groomed and happy when I return. I fully recommend River for all your pet’s needs!
To whom it may concern, River is both a dog trainer and vet tech and so my nervous golden doodle has found a great friend in her. She is beautiful lady, and she regularly takes her out on long exercise walks to make sure she is nice and healthy when I am too busy at work. Whenever I travel, River sits not only my dog but also takes care of my cats- sometimes for several weeks with no trouble.
