Experienced Pet Care Giver
Pet care experience
I love people and their pets! Most of my professional life has been spent in the people-helping field, and I enjoy sharing my love of animals with those I help. I am very proud to have introduced therapy dogs and equine-facilitated therapy to crime survivors in Alachua County, FL! In my free time, I've fostered over 50 dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, and even a few rabbits for various local rescues. My specialty has been helping anxious dogs learn to trust people. Positive reinforcement is my go-to method of behavior modification, and I can continue your training regimen with your fur babies while you are out of town. I can provide medications and even farm-sit if you need! I've owned my own horse and have cared for goats, chickens, pot-bellied pigs, and burros. I work full-time in York, PA, so I limit the area where I provide services between York and New Oxford. I stop directly after work (6 pm is quitting time) back at your house, then return to spend the night after feeding my own dog. I provide routine meal times, potty breaks, litter clean-up, medications as needed, treats as positive reinforcement, play time, cuddles, walks and other exercise, and if your pets are used to sleeping in your bed, they are welcome to do the same with me! I do all of this in your home so your best bud doesn't have to stress about too many changes while they are missing you. While Rover's pricing is set up on a per dog fee schedule, I cap charges at $80 per night and $40 per drop in or walk, regardless of the number of pets in your household. In the Rover app, I must modify your booking to be able to do that.
Reviews
Rita was amazing with our fur babies! We came home to them being stress free and happy! All three of them have different personalities and Rita was able to give them each the attention they needed. Rita communicated with me several times daily to put me at ease. It felt so good to find an in home pet sitter to keep the fur babies anxiety free!
Rita was wonderful with my crazy pack. She gave them all the individual attention and interest they each needed while we went away for our anniversary. Rita gave us updates with pictures and videos, which made us feel much better about being away from them. She handled any issues with grave and let me know immediately if she had any problems or questions. We would definitely be happy to have her come back and spend more time with them!
Rita took great care of our pups while we were away! She sent pictures often and responded to messages quickly! Would definitely recommend her to anyone!
Rita did a great job watching Barney, our Beagle/Boxer mix, for the weekend. She checked in and sent photos frequently. Everything went as planned. She took good care of Barney while we were away.

I want dogs to keep their usual routine as much as possible, and owners to rest assured their treasured pets are cared for as they would. I discuss my scheduling limitations with owners to ensure they are getting a sitter who is the best fit for their pets.
Information Rita L. would like to know about your pet
I ask about resource-guarding in multiple dog households, interactions with other pets, mealtime routines and eating locations, current training projects, crating routines, areas of the house to pay special attention to in regards to dog-proofing, and behaviors of concern to watch for. And of course, favorite pastimes and treats!
A typical day
I'll ask your dog to practice their obedience, or work on training a new command or trick. To keep a familiar routine, I'll ask you for dog-walking routes. It's their walk, so I let pups stop and sniff as they please! I'm always up for a game of fetch or tug-of-war, and I love using puzzle toys and scent work to get the brain cells turning!
