Even though I am new to Rover, I have ample experience caring for pets. Since I was born, I have always lived with a variety of animals. Our family has had numerous dogs and cats over the years as well as guinea pigs, fish, rats, degus, and a hedgehog. Many of the dogs we have owned have come from rescue organizations. With that being said, some of them have had special needs and specific care requirements. As such, I have experience with dogs of all behaviours and have gone to countless training and behavioural classes. From my experience growing up with so many pets, my knowledge on dog behaviour is much higher than the average person. I currently have a chihuahua and cat at home. I almost always bring my dog with me when leaving the house. Everyone is always surprised by her good behaviour especially given the typical character traits of a small dog. I've had her since she was a puppy and has been trained to not bark, is house-trained, knows some fun tricks, walks well on a leash, and is friendly with other dogs and people. She's the best buddy for camping, airplane rides, hiking, paddle boarding, hammocking, rock climbing trips, kayaking and of course car rides!
