Your Pet’s New Best Friend:))

Pet care experience

Hey there! I’ve been working with animals from dogs, horses, sheep, cats, goats, etc since I was 11. I’ve consistently worked on farms, dogsitting for neighbors, and family friends, and I pride myself on going above and beyond when it comes to animal care. I’m always more than happy to provide references and answer any questions you may have! I also love doing photography on the side so you can expect plenty of wonderful images of your pet sent to you while you’re away:)

We booked Riley to house sit for our 2 dogs (poodle and mini-berndoodle) from 5/28 - 6/4. We met her twice; once for a meet & greet ~2 mths out and again 2 wks before we left to go over everything. We felt it was a great fit as she was very sweet and she lived about 5 min from our house, and she said she had a wide open schedule as school was out and she worked PT (few hours, a few days a week), and if she left our house it would be just for ~3-4 hrs for her job. My husband works from home and our dogs are used to having someone home and being let out every 2-4 hours during the day (max 6 hrs if we all leave the house), and going ~10 hrs in a kennel at night. We asked if she didn’t want to stay the night to be at our home around 8am to let them out, and to be available on/off through the day to let them outside and give them some attention. Thank goodness for great security service and sensor logs otherwise I would have been in the dark about the nightmare service she provided! The first day of sitting she came a little late at 9:30ish (not a big deal) and stayed 40 minutes to take the dogs for a walk, give them breakfast, and then she kenneled them. However, she didn’t show back up until 9:30 at night and left after 30 min with them back in the their kennels. Another 12 hrs later, she arrives at 10AM to tend to the dogs, but left after 20 minutes with them back in their kennels. After a few hours go by, I’m seeing a concerning pattern and tried to contract her through Rover messaging/text to see if something came up and if she needed assistance letting them out during the day. After not hearing from her for a couple of hours, I beg my parents to leave their campsite and go check on my dogs, which they did around 5pm. At 6pm (~5 hrs after I tried contacting her) she finally texts back and says she had to leave for work unexpectedly but she was going to be back at the house soon. 6 hrs later after her text, she finally shows up at my house at 11:30pm (how is that soon??) then leaves 20 min later. After kenneling my dogs for 58.5 hours out of the 60hrs she was responsible for them, I told her I had enough as this wasn't the house sitting service she sold us on......not even close and I'm not sure how she could even do that to any dog!! It just blows my mind! I told her this wasn't good for their physical nor mental health, and I needed a refund and I was getting someone else. She phoned me and said she was having problems with them barking and acting like she was a stranger and not coming to her after they been outside for a few minutes. Well DUH! She spent no time there to build any type of relationship with them and they were mentally going crazy and stressing in their kennels all damn day. She admitted she lied about having to work and she was dealing with a personal problem over the Memorial Day Weekend (pretty sure she was out partying but of course I have no proof). When I asked why she didn't phone us or my local family who I left as additional contacts, she admitted she should have but wasn't in an area to reach us. She also admitted she overbooked herself but that was ending and promised she would do better by that night and be over at our house more often but couldn't offer a refund as she didn't know how. We ended up giving her another chance, but my poodle was extremely sick by the end of that 3rd day. I wasn't surprised he fell ill after all that kenneling but she felt it had nothing to do with her extreme kenneling method. She is young and naïve to not understand the dangers of backing up urine and feces in your system. She did stay the night and starting coming at more frequent intervals and staying for longer periods of time, but at the end of the 5th day she reached out and stated the dogs bark too much for her, Kody went back and forth with cuddling to running from her, and the cat threw up a hair ball in the bedroom.....she said it was too much stress for her and she quit. It took a lot of phone calls on my end and my family while they were at their offices, and it killed our planned outing that day while on vacation, but thankfully we found a retired friend of my brother's inlaws that was available to help us out. That new sitter (a complete stranger to us) said our dogs barked on and off for ~1.5 hrs, but they settled for him and laid at his feet while he watched TV afterwards, and he had absolutely no problems. He's even offered to house sit for us again if we need someone. He was floored she struggled. We also had contractors finishing up painting the exterior of our house while we were gone and they said they had no problem with our dogs and they even came right to them when they accidently got out of the backyard, which really impressed them as usually its a big game of chase when that happens to them. Getting a refund from Riley was also a headache, but I did get one. She didn't seem to be making an incentive so I had to get a hold of Rover who gave me a phone# for her to call, which I gave her. After 48 hours I contacted her again and asked about my refund and she said she hadn't been able to get anyone on the phone but would keep trying. I immediately tried the number and had someone on the line in less than a minute, so obviously another dishonestly.....quiet the pattern with her. Honestly I've never been so stressed and cried so much while on vacation; the whole experience with her has been god awful. Rover has been concerned and has contacted me. The only plus I saw was her sending photos on 2 of the days, and making that one phone call to apologize and own up to her mistakes with the promise to improve. I think she is very young and has a lot of maturing to do before she takes on this type of responsibility. I will never use her again, nor would I recommend her to anyone.

Riley is a fantastic dog sitter! She made sure my dogs were well loved, and taken care of. She even sent me cute pictures of my dogs while I was away in Mexico. I will definitely use Riley again to watch my dog. She is awesome!

I would like to start by saying Riley has watched my two dogs for a year now. My family will leave on weekends, long weeks, and we don’t stress about how the pups are doing while under Riley’s care. She has shown her love for my dogs since the day she met them and will forever be our first dog sitter choice. I understand many of the people reading these don’t know Riley, but I want to tell you that Riley will love your fur babies as if they were her own. She has had an abundance of pet training and will make the necessary changes to make your pet comfortable with her. She has great communication with pet updates and if problems arise she informs my family and I about them instantly. My lab Nikki has acted out with excessive eating and by trouble shooting with me, Riley took the appropriate actions to create the safest place for my pup. Riley is a very understanding young lady and she strives to make the owner and pet feel comfortable through the whole stay. She is truly amazing with animals and you can trust her with your pets while you are away.
