I prefer to know a little about personality foremost. I am well-versed in all manner of personalities, canine-wise, so just an honest assessment of the dog's day to day moods and preferences (especially things the dog dislikes!) is always helpful.

Depending on the dog's personality, I cater walks and activities for them individually. If a dog is high energy and likes to play, then a park outing with fetch and perhaps a dog park (if the dog is good around others) is the right move. If the dog is older or just a little more low key, a simple walk around the block or a stroll to a nearby coffee shop to sit in the sun and people watch may be the ticket! My dog Patti loves to stroll over to Marcy Playground and watch the kids play basketball or soccer. She even likes to sit and drink some water from her collapsable bowl while I shoot some hoops sometimes!
