Retired, love to play/walk dogs
Pet care experience
For 12 years I walked my retired racing greyhound sometimes for 3 hours a walk. I enjoyed how he showed me unknown nooks-and-crannies in the neighborhoods, what he was afraid of, what he liked, picking seeds out of his paws, picking up after him, and him making me go farther rather than home. I raised a Golden from puppyhood on up to 4 years old and got along fine with this land shark. We loved the water and being brushed. I like big and small dogs, and when they are being walked past my house, I talk to them more than to the owners.
Reviews
Richard was very professional and seemingly happy to walk our dog. Great communication and I would highly recommend him for anybody interested in having their dog walked!
Richard has been a godsend. He's retired, flexible in the times he can work, and genuinely seems to walk our dogs as much because he enjoys the company as for the work. If you're looking for a responsible, caring, and funny petsitter, you should definitely try out Richard!
Richard has taken care of my pets for one month while I was away on travel. He’s been great with both my cats, giving them plenty of attention and cuddles, and taking my dog on long walks and playing with her and giving her lots of pets! He mentioned that he used to have a hound and would take it for long walks and still loves to do that with the dogs he doggy-sits. He also give medicine to one of my cats who has hyperthyroidism and needs to take medication twice daily. The cat looked great when I came back and was quite fond of Richard! If you want someone punctual, caring, and reliable to help you with your cats or dogs - I highly recommend Richard!
Richard is a beautiful way with animals. He's very gentle with them and yet they seem to respond to him naturally. He's been caring for and walking my dogs for 10 years and I wouldn't trust anyone else to keep them safe and give them a fun, vigorous walk

Safety, trust & environment
We have three indoor-outdoor cats that I open doors for all day. I see no reason to sit with or walk a pet and not interact with it. When I had dogs for many years (a Greyhound and a Golden, sometimes a Basset) I basically walked them 2-3 times a day for at least 30 minutes, often much longer since I enjoyed it. Took them to the dog park if it was clean, safe, and suited their temperament (it often wasn't a good choice, so usually not). Plus the usual grooming, vet services, feeding, basic training.
Information Richard G. would like to know about your pet
General temperament and safety issues, degree of training especially for large dogs, breed, age, likes and dislikes, level of energy, special approach/handling needs regarding strangers.
A typical day
I like the dog to show me their neighborhood at leisure rather than drag it along a predetermined route for predetermined length of time. A walk is not something I usually want to just get over with but rather enjoy. At a home, just play with toys, practice basic tricks. I have no reason to not interact with it. Depends on the dog and its temperament or the owner's wishes.
