I have house sit,and watched/fed many animals off and on throughout my life. Dogs,cats,chickens,fish,pigs, even my boss's mother sometimes. I grew up with a German Shepherd, Lab,Husky, and cats.

The apartments dog play area is 5-10 feet from my door, and it's was just newly fenced in. There's kids with they're dogs playing all the time. I have a cat that I took in from a restaurant dumpster 5 years ago🤣 she kinda chose me. I have had to clean houses and watch friends/coworkers pets and stay at the house while on vacations for security purposes
