Certified PSI Cat Sitter
Pet care experience
As a professionally certified pet sitter through Pet Sitters International and a certified Feline Behaviourist through Animal Behavior College, I understand the need for your cats to hunt-catch-kill-eat-groom-sleep every day. As a cat owner I understand the nuances of cat-care requirements. Why ask a neighbour or novice to care for your loved ones when they won't know the difference between a fur-ball cough and an asthmatic attack? Or the difference between vomiting from gorging on food too fast and vomiting because of a life-threatening intestinal blockage? I can cater to all of your kitties' special needs! From subcutaneous fluid injections, insulin shots to simple medical pilling. Whatever you need, I've got you covered. Sarasota-wide cat care for one flat rate, no matter the distance. Contact me now for how you can have peace of mind while you are away by leaving your loved one in their very own home and in my very safe hands! Richard Barber

Safety, trust & environment
• I travel to the client's home (cat sitting). I don't take in cats at my place (boarding). • Each visit follows a similar structure of environmental stimulation, play-time stimulation, food-puzzle enrichment and winding down with brushing, scratchers, catnip and self-access toys. • You will come home to a happy, healthy and contented cat. • Insured through Crum & Forster for $1M for property damage. • Background checked through CheckR • I take my responsibility to your cat and property very seriously.
Information Richard B. would like to know about your pet
• If you have multiple cats and one or both are on restricted food, medical food or special food it helps to know ahead of time in case we need to train them up on microchip-reading feeders. • If a cat is diabetic or has hyperthyroidism it helps to know as this requires an AM and PM visit.
A typical day
• Upon entering I slip into the pair of cleaned, indoor, rubber-sold shoes I've left at your house so that I don't transfer cat smells across properties (a sure way to annoy cats). • Mail gets put into an obvious place on a counter somewhere. • An electronic toy or two get put on. • Food consumption is noted and any left over food and water gets thrown away and dishes go into the sink to soak. • Litter is cleaned and anything out of the ordinary noted. • Warm up play-hunting with something slow and simple (eg string) • Full on play-hunting with Da Bird, Da Bee, various feather and fishing-pole style toys. Respiration rate is noted so as to not overly tax a cat's aerobic capacity. • Winding down with a slower toy such as a crinkle wand rustling under paper. • Dishes get washed and fresh food and water put out, including timed-release feeders for both kibble and (refrigerated) wet food using gel packs and a feeder to allow it to thaw. Any meal plan I can mimic with feeders. • Quality treats and put into a variety of puzzle toys and 'hidden' around the home for your cat to sniff out and rummage around with after I leave. • Brushing with a Zoom Groom, glove brush, tine-comb or different brush according to your cat's needs. • Unlimited photos (typically 75-200) get sent to client (no charge). • Record of work is written up • Shut down procedure is strictly followed to ensure: water, food, treats, litter, windows, choking hazards locked away, electricity (toys and lights) as they should be. • Key is held in hand as I leave.
