Pet care experience
I’ve had dogs since I was 5 yrs old …mostly big dogs and a few little ones. I have both now. They are like family to me and I enjoy giving them love, engaging their minds, and teaching them fun pet tricks. My border collie/shepherd mix can even do math and chemistry! I’ll make sure your pup is well cared for and has fun as well.

Initially, she was very enthusiastic and watched my dogs. She verbally agreed to watch my dogs over several days as I was working and going out of town. When I asked her to confirm to request to book she completely ghosted me. I understand if plans change or schedules collide but the responsible and professional thing to do is just say you can’t do it rather than leave people hanging wandering what’s going on. It’s pretty simple. Next time just say you can’t.

Both my dogs are friendly (6 yr old shih tzu mix and border collie/shepherd mix). I have a 6 foot block fence and have a few large crates in case one is needed. I’ve done a lot of obedience training and agility so am aware of a dog’s signals. My philosophy is I lead the dog and I always keep an eye on the dog so they are safe and others are safe.

It’s good to know what a dog likes to do with its active energy and what treats or clicker or acknowledgment the owner likes to use for a reward. I also like to meet a dog beforehand so the pup can get comfortable with my smell and presence. The dog’s schedule and typical behaviors are important to know. For instance, my border collie taps his feet when he wants to get my attention.
A typical day
Walking dogs is the best things for them and also engaging them with some stimulation tricks. I’ve done quite a bit of agility training with my pups so know a lot of fun games and focus games. I also like to bring a longer lead to walk to park so the pup can chase a ball and not worry about anything and I can also work with the dog with a sit stay from longer distances (also builds trust). There’s are large parks in the area to play fetch. Dog parks in the area depend on the temperament of the dog.

Availability
I work part time …I teach chemistry …so I do have time during the day while also taking care of my students. My schedule is fairly open as my kids are all off to college.
