Family of 4 to love on your Pup!

Pet care experience

Hi! We are Lucas and Rena - us, along with our two kids, cannot wait to meet your dog and share our space with them as if it's their own home. It has been a true pleasure getting to know and care for our clients animals here on Rover and we look forward to all the pets we have yet to meet! As much as we would love to have pets of our own, we are not currently able to commit financially to dog or cat ownership. This is where we make a great fit for you, the pet owner, looking for someone to care for yours. It is our goal to make your time away from your animal as smooth and stress-free as possible by setting them up for successful transitions and giving them the kind of love they wish for when their parents are not around! We genuinely just want to bring them as much happiness as we can when they’re with us - it brings us so much joy to do so!

Rena & Lucas were nothing short of amazing. This was Ernie’s first stay with anyone off of Rover and I can really tell he enjoyed his stay. I’m so thankful for their warmth with Ernie. I wouldn’t hesitate at all to have Ernie stay with them again. Thanks again you two.

Rena and Lucas were great, very communicative, and careful. I'd for sure board my pup with them again!

It is natural for your dog to behave and feel differently after you leave them with new humans. No matter how caring and nurturing we may be towards them, they will likely still be sad and miss you. To accommodate for their feelings of separation, we tend to go overboard with pets, walks, praise, and, when appropriate, treats, so they can warm up to us as easily as possible. We want them to feel as secure as possible during their time of separation from their owners, and really try to keep owners updated - especially during the first 24 hours while they adjust. Being that our kids are still only 8 and 6, our home can be exciting and loud! We expect that dogs who belong to families with kids will feel right at home ;) We also have been teaching our kids about safety and respect and making sure to be aware of how others are feeling (dogs and humans!). We have an enclosed small yard in our townhouse as well as a shared courtyard where your dog can enjoy some supervised wandering and squirrel-watching. We live right by a dog-friendly park and enjoy short and long outings as they please. We won’t take dogs off leash ever except for enclosed off-leash areas (when caring for dogs who enjoy that). Another thing to note: We keep a mostly chemical-free home. So if your dog is sensitive to chemicals, our home should not be an issue.

Information Rena & Lucas L. would like to know about your pet

How is your dog with kids? We’d also like to know if your dog is sensitive to needing space. How do they like to be rewarded? What is your dogs typical schedule? Does your dog have triggers or allergies? If you are needing your dog to board without any others, let me know so I can do my best to accommodate.

A typical day

Our kids LOVE throwing the ball for fetch (enclosed off-leash park) and playing tug of war. We love to run in tandem with the dog on the leash if they like, nice walks around the neighborhood, and at the park or along trails. If we have things going on, we try to bring the dogs with us as much as possible - ie kids sports, visits with friends, spending time in nature, etc. We, as a family, spend our indoor time playing games, watching movies, making meals, and cuddles.

Availability

We are pretty big homebodies on the weekends so we can be flexible for your dog's routine and needs. I now work 1-block away Tuesday to Friday and we are happy to accommodate a Friday afternoon to Monday stay for new clients. For repeat clients, and depending on the dog’s needs, we are very much open to caring for your dog Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, as I will be working shorter days (9-3) and will have the flexibility to take our guests for a lunchtime walk. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you’ve booked with us before and you’re interested in week-day care.
