Pet care experience
I'm 33 years old and recently graduated from the University of Iowa with a Ph.D. in Communication Studies. Before that, I served in the Peace Corps. I don't teach in the summer, so my schedule is extremely flexible. I am reliable and responsible, and I'm experienced in taking care of dogs. I grew up with a 100-pound lab/retriever mix, and my partner and I currently have a 105-pound Great Pyrenees fur baby. I regularly house/dog-sit my friends' Sheltie in North Liberty, and we have fun going for walks, playing in the back yard, and snuggling on the couch. I love sending my friends updates about their dog when they're out of town or at work, and taking long walks or jogs with their furry companion.

We have a lively giant schnauzer 'puppy' who is 18 months old. She can be a handful; however, Rena managed her with ease. She sent photos of a happy puppy who appeared to be well-behaved. She included reassuring notes as well. We were worry free during our vacation!

I would want to know whatever I need to know about the dog's health-- for example, some have hip issues and shouldn't be taken for runs. I'd also like to know if there are any behavioral issues-- for example, should I avoid other dogs or small children while we're out walking. I tend to enjoy bigger, fluffier dogs, but I'm happy to walk or care for any kind of dog.
A typical day
I can take clients' preferred routes, or explore scenic neighborhoods or parks in the area. It's important that my clients set the terms for what they're comfortable with, but I'm happy to take dogs for walks, jogs, to play fetch, or whatever else they prefer-- I'm flexible.
