Pet care experience
Growing up, we have always had dogs in the home. In Botswana, my home country, dogs are mainly for security so my parents opted for medium - large dogs (Boerboels, American Staffordshire Terriers, Pitbulls, and Dogo Argentinos) as well as Jack Russels. So I am comfortable with large dogs. Since moving to Montreal for school, I have cat sat 3 different cats (for up to a month at a time), fostered a mother cat and her kittens with the SPCA, fostered and began training a dog (medium-large border collie mix) coming from Kuwait to be adopted, and have recurrently watched friends’ dogs (miniature poodle, pug, and yorkshire terrier).

Refilwe was very sweet and reliable. She took the time to get to know my energetic 18 month Aussie doodle. She gave him the care he needed even though he isn’t easy. My dog is sweet but heavily pulls the leash. Refilwe took this as a challenge. Thank you Refilwe for your care of our dog.
Very kind lady. And great energy. I was a bit disappointed when I gave her a heads up that when she initially went to the house Maple would bark. And that she needed to get upstairs for her to smell her feet to ease her nerves. She seemed okay with it because of the body language Maple had given her in her first interaction with her. But when it came to it Maples bark scared her to the point she didn't feel safe and left the house (understandable) but left my upstairs door open causing Maple to freak out every opportunity she saw someone passing the house. Which then had caused an issue with my landlord and my neighbor because she was barking for about an hour before I was able to close that door. So I was a bit disappointed that I chose someone that had apparently dealt with big dogs. And my dog is a medium dog with a big dog bark that scared her away.
Refilwe was a wonderful person to spend a couple of days with Hank. She is smart, kind, thoughtful, and Hank developed a super affection for her. She was perfectly conscientious with him and with us. She stayed in touch with us so that we always were up-to-date about how she and Hank were doing.
Growing up with Refilwe, her innate connection with dogs was unmistakably profound. Even as a child, her maternal instincts, patience, and deep care for all living beings were evident, but her bond with dogs stood out remarkably. Refilwe’s approach to understanding and disciplining dogs mirrors the gentlest aspects of parenting, focusing on empathy, respect, and clear communication. Her ability to forge deep emotional connections with these animals, coupled with her dedication to their well-being, has always amazed me. As her sibling, witnessing her natural ability to nurture and positively influence every dog she encounters is both inspiring and a source of immense pride. ---

As a graduate student, my schedule is flexible such that it can be adapted to the pet I am caring for. I sometimes work remotely too (depending on the phase of my thesis). I do not work on the weekends, therefore I can dedicate more time to care for your pet.
