Experienced, Caring, Certified.

Pet care experience

With over 10 years of experience as the medical manager for a private, no-kill animal shelter, I have cared for well over 5,000 animals. From providing extensive, long term wound care and bandage changes to a sweet JRT mix after she suffered a venomous snake bite, to conducting playgroups with multiple behaviorally challenged dogs, to trimming dog or cat nails, I've done it all. I am also a Certified Fear Free Professional which allows me to help you understand your pet's behavior and provide ideas for introducing positive enrichment opportunities into your pet’s environment and routine. My training and experience allows me to understand your pet's behavior and develop unique techniques to encourage positive interactions that build trust. I have a soft spot for the pets who could be considered under socialized or typically nervous in new situations. Patience, persistence and consistency are required in order to set timid pets up for success. Happy pets = Happy humans :)

Rebecca has been wonderful for my puppy, Everest. She comes every weekday afternoon, lets Everest out, feeds her, makes sure she has water, and plays with her. She's even been training her some! Everest loves Rebecca too! I am so grateful for Rebecca and she gives me a lot of peace of mind!

Rebecca has been pet/house sitting for me for right at three years now and I think my dog and cat get extra excited for their Mama to go on vacation so she can come hang out with them. She is knowledgeable, professional, engaging, and very fairly priced. I never worried about my pets when they were in her care and always came home to happy animals and a clean house! Very highly recommend giving her the responsibility of caring for your animals while you’re away. You won’t have a worry at all.

Rebecca has an innate, natural ability to manage the most challenging situations concerning your pet. Our bulldog broke her left leg after a fall. Rebecca was instrumental in helping us find a reputable surgeon and then made suggestions which improved our ability to care for our pet while she healed. Rebecca combines her experience with common sense solutions when caring for pets with allergies, injuries or behavioral issues. She has been helping me teach my dog to allow toe nail trims. She will be a wonderful asset to your family in terms of advice, experience and support.

I live on 3 acres of pasture land that I walk 3- 6 times a day with my 11-year-old English Springer Spaniel, my 2-year-old Shepherd mix, and my 5-year-old foster dog, rain or shine. We live with a cat who agrees to let the dogs stay as long as I keep food in his bowl and save his spot at the foot of the bed every night.  Throughout my many years of experience, both personally and professionally, I noticed one thing that all pets have in common is their response to disruptions in routines. Much like us, our pets feel a sense of stability in their normal, everyday routines. When that routine is disrupted by family visits or out-of-town travel plans, it is important to provide as much normalcy as possible, and that is my goal as your pet sitter. Patience, compassion, and understanding, combined with unmatched skills and passion for pets, will guarantee a stress-free, positive experience for both you and your pet(s).

Information Rebecca R. would like to know about your pet

If your pet has any particular behavior concerns or medical needs, I would prefer to schedule a meet with you and your pet prior to my first visit at no cost to you. An in-home meet and greet with you and your pet is REQUIRED for pets who are fearful of new people and/or pets who have a history of resource guarding such as being possessive of toys or treats or being protective of certain spaces in the home.

A typical day

All pets are different and what one likes to do, another may not enjoy. That's why I will work with you to determine what will be most beneficial to your pet during my time with them. If it's 3 mile walks 4 times a day, playdates with my energetic German Shepherd mix, or lounging around watching their favorite movies, I'll do whatever is needed for you to come home to a happy, healthy, loved pet.

Availability

My schedule is flexible whichs allows me to make multiple drop-ins throughout the day when needed. If you have a pet that requires medications at particular times during the day, or if your pet would benefit from some extra exercise or company to help with boredom in the middle of the day, I'd love to help. I do have pets of my own so unless significant notice is given prior to the nights needed, I would have to decline in-home overnight care. I have a 2 year old, spayed, German Shepherd/hound mix who is dog friendly and also available for supervised playgroups if your pup needs a playmate to burn off energy with for an hour or two during the day as well.
