Pet care experience
I've owned pets for over ten years; currently I have a dog (German Shepherd cross) and three tabby cats. Previously I had a Husky Cross and Catahoula mix that were with me for 7 and 9 years, respectively, before they passed. Jack (my Catahoula) was very reactive to both dogs and people who weren't "his" so creating a safe space for him was crucial. In his last days at 12 I spent lots of time adjusting the house so he didn't slip on the laminate floors, lifting him into bed, etc. Ember is about a year and a half, and we are working hard not jumping because she just loves everything (people, dogs, cats) so much. I use only positive reinforcement, force free training for all my animals.

I have known Becky for 14 years. She is a true animal lover - I don’t know if there has ever been a person who loves all cats and dogs as much as Becky does. I’ve seen her adopt all of her pets and naturally adapt to all their temperaments and needs - finding ways to include and love each in her home. If your pet likes other dogs and cats, they will have a great time with the Black Pack!

My townhouse has a fully fenced yard (about 6 feet on the sides and 4-5 feet across the back), with no neighbours directly behind me. Ember receives daily walks (she is allowed off leash in appropriate areas, which I would not be comfortable with unless we have an ongoing relationship to build trust). She is allowed on the couch, and sleeps in bed with me at night, but does go in her crate when I am not home otherwise. I am comfortable crating your fur baby or allowing them to sleep on a doggy bed or up with me if that's what they are used to. My neighbourhood is filled with walking trails and mature trees so there is lots to sniff!

Let me know if your dog has any special needs (diet, mobility, behaviour...) so we can be sure it's a right fit for us both. One of my cats seems to think he's a dog and will love to snuggle up if allowed, the other two mind their own business.
A typical day
Typically we take one to two walks day with lots of time to sniff through the paths (rarely do we do a walk that is just along the sidewalks so that the walks are more interesting. There are lots of toys here to play with, along with snuffle mats for meals to make eating more interesting and engaging. Ember doesn't like to play fetch, but we do have a big fenced in rink right beside my complex that is perfect for fetch if your pup loves to play!

Availability
I currently work part time away from my home (4 shifts at 4 hours each), and then sporadic days I may work in the evening for the same time frame, but this can be adjusted. Ember goes to doggy daycare once a week on Fridays so I can volunteer, but other than that I stick pretty close to home, and generally have lots of flexibility to work around your pupper's needs.
