Every doggie/cat loves Ray

Pet care experience

Hello while I have grown up with animals in my household growing up I am known to take care of your animal. I am capable of giving oral medications along with any sub-cue injections. One of my previous employers was working with Dr Blount at At Home Veterinary Care where I learned the skills previously mentioned. I am able to dog walk, dog sit, cat sit, or take care of any animal. Being at the animal shelter working around dogs, mainly pit mixes has shown me that sometimes dogs need to know who is in charge. I know based on the dogs I work with that sometimes a dog can get overstimulated and begin leash bitting, or be mouthy with me when a dog gets ramped up when seeing another dog, or me simply giving them too much attention. When this happens I like to calm the dog down, if we are walking and a dog begins to act up I will patiently wait for the dog to make eye contact with me and engage in either sitting or a notion of calming down. Not all dogs are the same and sometimes a dog may need more work, yet this is my way of handling dogs. The great thing about me is that I am willing to learn and find solutions that fit best.

Raymond does a wonderful job caring for all of my pets! My pets are family members and their safety and happiness are extremely important to me. Ray is happy to help/ check on them during the day, but also does a terrific job with overnight pet sitting and stays at my home while I'm out of town. He has a positive way about him with great energy that my dogs absolutely love! He has even become fast friends with my sometimes-difficult Chihuahua mix. Ray is also a cat lover and with cats of his own, connects with my cat Ginger and takes excellent care of her. He will ask for clarification when appropriate and is super neat and tidy in my home. I highly recommend Raymond as a trusted pet sitter.

Raymond cared for our pet dog, Curtis, a 6 year old male pit bull mix, we adopted from the animal shelter at our home. He was very conscientious and considerate of Curtis’ needs and took the time (visiting us in our home in two occasions) before we hired him to get to know Curtis’ schedule and personality. This was very important to us because as a rescue dog, Curtis, while very friendly, tends to be very anxious. Visiting him at our house and getting to know Curtis was vital. On the two long weekends in which Raymond took care of Curtis, he kept us up to date with activities via text, pictures and video. Raymond played with Curtis and took him on two walks daily. From the updates we received we could tell that Curtis was happy and enjoyed being with Raymond. We were very happy with the care Curtis received from Raymond.

Raymond is loving and very responsible when caring for his pet. He does what he can to nourish and care for his pet as much as possible. Raymond would be a great dog sitter because animals are Our life , we are both animal science majors and parking care of pets come natural to us. I know he will do great as a loving dog caregiver with all his heart and dedication.

In any environment, I want to make the animal comfortable and will do so by paying attention to the signs I am given. I will let the pet first get comfortable with me. I have three cats, two being my girlfriends so with them we have two cat towers, a bunch of toys, and some catnip for good vibes. I understand not every dog is trusting of a stranger initially and may take a few visits to warm up, so patience is key. I do communicate with animals as if they are people so I will talk to them throughout our interactions. Outside of the house if dog walking I like to be aware of my surroundings. I stray away from being on the phone unless I am taking pictures to provide updates or play music. If we see other dogs on the walk we may interact depending on the history of the dog in care. Depending on the area we walk in if woodsy, I will check for ticks post walk cause I hate those things!!

For me knowing the following ahead of time would be best. - Feeding schedule, walk schedule, medication schedule, any expected packages/ deliveries, contact information in case of emergencies, expected time of your return, and what times would you like updates on your loved one. Lastly, I would like you all to read my schedule as I like to update it as it changes. Before booking me please read the schedule I have currently.

A typical day

Working at the animal shelter has given me much insight that not all dogs are the play type and some just want to be cuddled and given affection. I am willing to provide any necessary activity for the animal I am in the care of. Naturally, I am typically in good spirits even when things are rough, I tend to find joy in something. If the dog is big on playtime we will play. Tug of war? Well, I love a good tug. Fetch? Let's play! A game of chase? Catch me if you can! Rubs and cuddles? Let's find a movie to watch! I am very physically active at work and outside of work. I love to run outside in nature, preferably in the hottest part of the day. My reasoning is that I like to challenge myself when it comes to running. I am getting back into lifting weights at the gym also. Additionally, I love being outside and enjoying nature.

My current work schedule consists of me Dog Walking at Tallahassee Animal Services located at Tom Brown Park on Monday - Friday. While this job is not high-end paying, in the short term it is providing me with keeping in touch with a healthy diet, physical activity, and learning about the dogs I encounter each and every day. I work from 8 am - 4 pm Monday through Friday. I work on average 30 - 35 hours a week. My employer allows me to be flexible for any pet sitting so if needed, I am able to leave work for lunch to check on your dog(s) or cat(s). It has been times when I've had to pet sit and in the morning I stop in on the dog, head to work, take a longer lunch around noon to check on the doggie, and back to work. On weekends I am available unless I have weekend plans or activities going on. Most of the time I am working out at the gym or outside running the trails near me. I may be at AMC movie theaters checking out the latest new movie. I am a part of a D9 Greek-lettered organization, and occasionally we have events during the week or weekend that I will attend.
