Experienced and passionate in pet care

Pet care experience

Puds patrol - professional passionate pet care. I cannot remember a time growing up that we did have family dogs, or one of my own as soon as I was old enough! I took a keen interest in all aspects of their care from an early age, from walking to grooming and I’ve loved every second! Over many years, I have gained valuable experience in walking, training and caring for dogs; both those of my own and of others, on an individual or group basis, of varying breeds, sizes and temperaments. Similarly, I am very familiar with the additional requirements needed for puppy and more senior dog care. I take a keen interest in animal psychology and have a good understanding of environmental and behavioural triggers to more sensitive dogs. I am well versed in treating pets with a range of health conditions, administering medication and identifying any signs or symptoms that may need attention. The safety, health and happiness of any dogs in my care is my absolute priority. I have been a primary school teacher for many years, this experience has also provided me with many skills transferable to looking after a variety of dogs whilst catering for their individual needs- full DBS checked.

Rachel is an absolutely amazing dog sitter. She has had our Cocker Spaniel Lilly twice now overnight. Before this we have never left her with anyone but Rachel reassured us and kept us up to date with messages and pictures. Lilly looked so happy and it really was a home from home. She was cuddling on the sofa and was out for long walks twice a day.

I trust Rachel implicitly with my dogs, I could not recommend her highly enough. She walks my two treasured pooches on a regular basis and has done since they were pups. She has helped in their basic training and has played a vital part in socialising them as-well as improving their lead obedience. Rachel has also cares for my dogs whilst I’ve taken breaks and holidays, whilst keeping me regularly updated about their wellbeing via messages and pictures. Nothing is too much to ask when it comes to the care and love given to my dogs when in her care, I wouldn’t ask anyone else. The dogs clearly adore her too!

Rachel grew up in a family of dog-lovers and they've long been a part of her life. Since before she could have a dog of her own, she would look after them for friends and family whenever the opportunity arose. I only have my dog, Alf, (of 10 years now) because she'd been trying to re-home him after his owner decided to move to the USA and was going to leave him behind. I trust her implicitly with my dog, knowing that he'll be safe, secure and will get walked come rain or shine. Rachel's dog, Pud, passed quite recently due to neurological complications, aged just three. In the run up to this, the lengths she was willing to go to to keep him happy and comfortable were genuinely commendable; from paying whatever financial cost there might be, to feeding him by hand, modifying her house or holding him up so he could go to the toilet. In his prime, Pud was always well groomed, had lovely clean teeth and was a really happy and contented little chap. As soon as she told me she wanted to do this, it made total sense. I really can't think of anyone that would be more suited to it!

I welcome any favourite toys or games your pet may have whilst in my care. I thoroughly enjoy long outdoor walks, ball games and exploring new places and smells with them. If your dog enjoys socialising I will ensure popular doggie route are chosen, equally if your pet prefers to not to be with other dogs, I will choose more appropriate quiet areas.
