Experienced Dog Sitter!

Pet care experience

Growing up we've always had a dog. My responsibility was of course, to play with it when i was younger but now that i'm older, my responsibilities have grown. Feeding, walking, making sure they take their medication at the correct time and providing enrichment to help keep our older dogs amused and happy. I worked at a local animal shelter for a year, where I learned the true responsibility of taking care of animals. Animal happiness and safety is a main priority of mine.

Rachel just took care of our 2 dogs for 5 days when we went on vacation over the 4th of July holiday. Both dogs seemed to love her and looked happy and content in the pictures she sent. She also texted us updates a couple of times a day. During this time, Rachel was not feeling well and ended up having to go to an urgent care to get an antibiotic, but she continued her responsibilities of taking care of our pets so as to not spoil our vacation. Then, during the 4th night at our house, there was a terrible storm and a possible tornado very close to our house. Rachel had to keep our dogs calm, as both of our dogs are very afraid of storms and other loud noises. She had also had to deal with keeping them calm during fireworks. During the storm, our electricity was knocked out. Rachel mentioned to us in an update that our house had lost electricity, but never complained or told us anything that would worry us. However, she had no way to warm up food, no lights at night, no AC or TV, couldn’t even run a fan. She was going out into her car to keep her phone charged. We told her where candles, flashlights, and external.batteries were that she could use while we waited for updates on the electricity. On the 5th day we realized how uncomfortable it must be for her so we decided to come home a day early to relieve Rachel, as she had endured 28 hours without electricity in our house without complaining or worrying us at all and we didn’t know when the power might be restored. The whole time , we knew the dogs were well taken care of. Rachel even waited to leave until we got back because more storms were coming and she didn’t want the dogs to be alone during the storms. I was so impressed with Rachel and will definitely be using her again. Rachel stayed with her commitment to us through some very tough situations, never complaining and staying positive in her communications with us so we were never worried.

Rachel did great with my babies! She was there early, and spent the whole day with them. I felt comfortable/confident that they were getting the attention I would want them to have. She checked in frequently, asked questions when she needed to, and spoiled my fur children with love.

Rachel was very caring with my babies, followed all of the directions to a T, and sent me picture updates on how they were doing while she was at my house. I felt really comfortable knowing they were being taken care of by someone trustworthy. She responded quickly to any messages I sent and was respectful of my space.

I've known Rachel personally and professionally for nearly a year, we met while working at a local humane society. While there, she remained constant as a person that the entire team could rely on to show up and give every task her all. She would get to know every animal, and she would remember all their names and little quirks. She always took extra time with the ones that needed extra love: the sick, timid, "aggressive" babies that just needed to know they were safe because someone cared about them. I've had Rachel pet-sit my own dogs while at work, and my boys adore her. She follows every instruction/care guide given to her completely, because she knows how important your pets are in your life. She has the medical knowledge to do treatments and give medications when necessary, and knows what to look for in your pet's behavior and physical health if anything goes wrong. Bottom line is: Rachel will always make sure your pets feel safe, loved, and cared for, no matter the extent of their needs. She's good at what she was born to do.

I have 2 dogs currently, a puggle and a mini pin doberman alongside 2 cats! We have a large fenced in yard which allows us to let our dogs get their energy out and enjoy some time alone outside, while we continue to keep a close eye on them. The dogs are never out of my sight, I know how mischievous they tend to be.

Information Rachel V. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog has any sort of routine or quirks about them that you think is important for me to know. I do not want to overstep my boundaries with your animal, as i'd like to keep them as comfortable as possible! I have no problem giving oral medication as I have to give my senior dog hers every afternoon.

A typical day

I love making Kongs and Frozen Lickmats to help stimulate your dog(s) brain! They keep them occupied temporarily while also giving them healthy enrichment and playtime. Once that is done I will happily play with them, whether it's their favorite toy or they just like to rough house, I have experience with that since my childhood dog was a Doberman!
