Pet care experience
I grew up in rural South Dakota, and my border collie was my best companion. I'm comfortable caring for any breed, but I'm primarily experienced with mid-sized dogs. I've cared for border collies, labs, and German Shepherds, among other breeds. I enjoy going on runs with dogs and visiting parks in the area. I've been taking care of my own pets and others' for over five years. I'm a driven Harvard student looking to love another's dog(s) while I'm away from my own. I'm primarily available during any hours on weekends, but I can take weekday appointments-- just reach out. I work in the Governor’s office and reside in the Cambridge; I’m available to care for pets in either area. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!

We've used Rachel multiple times and she did an amazing job. She was great about sending pictures and providing updates. In addition, I really appreciated that she would go on runs with my dog and she certainly went above and beyond to make sure my dog received plenty of activity while I was away.
Rachel is an extremely nice person, as well as a very good caregiver to her dogs at home. She's extremely easy to work with, and will take wonderful care of your pets. Don't hesitate to call her when you need someone to care for your pets, they will be in good hands.

Information Rachel S. would like to know about your pet
Before sitting or walking a dog, I like to chat with the owner about the pet's level of obedience, its medical needs, its level of leash training, how the pet likes to be rewarded, the pet's personality traits, and the pet's routines. These topics will generally include more in-depth questions (what causes your pet anxiety, is your pet used to being away from you, what are its breed-specific quirks, etc.). I also need to confirm the owner's contact information in case he or she needs to be reached in case of emergency. I generally prefer to walk the dog for a few minutes with the owner present to ensure that we are a good fit.
A typical day
Some of my favorite places in Boston include the Common, Peters Park and the Esplanade. I'm a very active person, so I'm happy to run with dogs and engage in a variety of physical activities. I'm a tennis enthusiast, and there are many dog-friendly courts in the area that allow you to play fetch. I also love frisbee and hiking, but I'm up for anything. I work with owners to plan a walk/stay that best suits the needs of their pet.
