empathetic & trustworthy pet friend

Pet care experience

Pets are family, and I know how hard it can be to leave your fur babies in the care of a new sitter. That’s why I do whatever I can to put your mind and heart at ease and show you that I take this work as seriously as if I were caring for my own pets or even children. Some examples: - I love sending as many pix as you’re up for receiving (but full disclosure that most of my selfie sessions turn out a bit blurry). - I usually can’t resist adding a little extra time to the walks and playtime—hanging with pets makes me so happy! - I use the new features Rover has added to the app to make sure you have all the details about what your pet and I did together (for example, I log our walks so you can see where we went). If you’re looking for boarding, please note that I live in a 3rd-floor, walk-up apartment, and I have a sweet, well-behaved cat named Dolly who has gotten along well with the other dogs I have boarded. I’m always up for scheduling a complimentary meet and greet so we can confirm together if it’s a good fit. Even though I don’t have a yard, I love going on long walks, especially with new animal pals! A little bit more about me as a person/ why I do this: -I’ve worked in the nonprofit/social sector for 15+ years. The work is rewarding in some ways, but not always financially. Pet sitting helps boost my income to keep up this work. - I love dogs (Jasmine and Buddy are the two I’ve been lucky to have in my life before they crossed over the rainbow bridge). I’m not quite in a place to commit to a dog again full-time, so until I am, I fully embrace this side gig to get more dog love in my life! A little bit more about my approach to dog sitting: - I walk dogs mindfully (meaning no headphones/calls/podcasts/music) to ensure safety and care. - I put myself in your shoes and treat your dog with the same care they receive from you. Love cuddling with your dog on the couch/bed? I'll also welcome them with open arms (and a blanket to protect the furniture). Trying to set boundaries and keep your furniture pet-free? I'll get down on the floor to give your pup an extra belly rub or two. - I follow your dog’s normal routine as best I can. If your dog normally goes on walks at 11 am, I try to get out the door at 11. A note about my "booking score": My repeat booking score on Rover is not indicative of the six repeat clients I have who have booked with me directly/outside of the app. (One day I’ll get them to fill out reviews on here ;). These clients include two geriatric dogs. One took 6 pills a day and required special lifting. The other required a special boot placed on their paw before walking. Some of the breeds/mixes I've cared for in the past include golden retrievers, black labs, pit bulls, Rhodesian ridgebacks, English setters, and chows. Thank you for reading, and hope to meet you and your dog soon!

Rachel was awesome! We were able to have her meet our dog in advance. She communicated well and was happy to take care of an energetic puppy. She clearly provided a lot of one on one attention and care to our dog.

Our dog, Mo, loved staying with Rachel. We could tell because he didn't want to leave. While he was wiggling with excitement when we went to pick him up, he also ran back inside to get a few more scratches behind the ears from Rachel. It looked like he was saying thank you! Next time we need a sitter for him, we will definitely see if Rachel is available.

Our animals love Rachel, especially our dog Manning. She has a calm attitude and presence that they enjoy. Our skittish cat even let Rachel pet her! She took our dog Manning to the park/walk, and even hiking while we were gone. Besides doing the usual of just feeding and making sure the animals had water, Rachel went beyond and washed all the food bowls and spoons, took out the trash and even washed and remade the bed, so we could return home and not have to do anything at all! I am very happy with having Rachel as a house-sitter for our dog/cats, and will def use her again!
