Energetic alpha(fe)male pet care.

Pet care experience

Animals have been a special part of my life as a young person and throughout my adulthood. From small dogs to giant, puppies to seniors, farm animals to all kinds of domestic animals - I’ve been caring for the animals of friends, family, employers, and farmers. I raised my own dog when I was young, taking him to behavior classes, and training and socializing him regularly. He’s since past and since then I’ve gotten two cats of my own who are now bonded brothers. I am very good with cat behavior and care. A must when acquainting two unrelated male cats and setting them up for success in their relationship. I adore both cats and dogs and am regularly dog sitting for my sister in law’s high energy terrier, for about 7-10 days at a time, and have done training with her to respect the cats. I am comfortable with all stages your dogs life, from young puppies in potty training, to older dogs needing more gentle care or carrying out the treatment plan for dogs who are receiving medical treatment (including administering medications with adequate instruction). I have experience with high energy dogs and am able to provide high energy care including going on extended walks and brisk runs, and behavioral training with high energy dogs that have some behavioral skills.

Rachel is reliable, passionate, and clearly very knowledgeable with dogs! I have I pretty big rowdy pup and Rachel is able to handle him no problem and is great with helping with patient positive reinforcement training! It is awesome knowing that I have someone who cares about pups as much as Rachel does walking Hueco while I'm at work! 10/10 would recommend to anyone ?

Rachel was very caring of our 2 cats for the 3 days we were gone, gave good updates on their activity and behavior, and administered oral meds to one of them every visit. It was great getting pics of them and knowing they were safe with her. I will definitely hire her again next time we travel.

Safety, trust & environment

I promise to love your animals at least as much as you do and keep their safety and comfort as my number one priority. My approach: From border collies and German shepards to silky terriers and shih tzu's, to Maine Coons and Blue Russians - I find that dogs and cats alike respond well to structure and positive reinforcement. From consistently and gently correcting behaviors in the home or on a walk when appropriate, to fun and energetic play to build trust and bonding, we will build a relationship based on trust and respect for one another. As a rule I will follow your lead.

Information Rachel S. would like to know about your pet

Each dog comes with their own energy needs and personalities and I know that every dog can be a good dog with love, respect, and training. Before getting to know your dog I do need to know of any behavioral issues before hand such as biting, barking, fears of certain noices, or any activating people or objects to avoid. I would also need to know of any medical concerns or current issues that could come up during care, and your veterinarians number or your closest pet care facility in case of an emergency.

A typical day

I enjoy taking dogs to Mt. Tabor, Laurelhurst park, the water front, or causual neighborhood strolls or runs. Playing fetch or good old fashioned belly rubs and head scratches work well with most dogs. But I find it works best to know what your dog responds the best to and work from there.

I am a graduate of Anthropology currently in between jobs after becoming victim to violent crime. While taking care of myself in many other ways I am thrilled to be able to finally be able to channel some of my energy back into caring for other peoples pets. With my current schedule I’m able to make room for many opportunities depending on how well we work together.
