Pet care experience
I have been a proud pet parent and animal lover for my entire life - I've cared for my bouncy border collie, a toy poodle mix, four amazing cats, fish, birds, and more. I find nothing more interesting than meeting and learning to care for a new dog's unique needs, and nothing more rewarding than their happy face on my return visit! I am a trained veterinary assistant, with 2 years in animal care under my belt. Additionally, I spent 4 years volunteering in care and animal education at the Audubon Zoo of New Orleans, 8 months working as a full-time professional dog walker at Baroo, and 3 years attending to the critters at the Animal Rescue League of Boston - so I'm ready and able to provide engaging walks for all kinds of dogs, from the over-enthusiastic to the geriatric. I'm also an eager snuggler, patient bather, ninja treat-trainer, and expert dog photographer. You can expect a carefully cleaned home and a well-loved pup after every visit. Pets are family, and they deserve the same kind of unconditional love and attention that they give to us so freely. I have worked with many older and special needs animals, and I'm ready to adjust to any kind of dog's needs. On call for care most weekdays from 10-6!
Reviews
My cat absolutely loved Rachel! I will definitely reach out to Rachel the next time I need help with taking care of my cat.
Rachel established a wonderful relationship with our dogs very quickly. They -- and we -- will miss her badly.
Rachel was prompt and thorough. Quick response, nice photos (!), and she pays attention. Thanks!
Rachel was available even though I had not given much notice, and spent a little extra time trying to give time for our shy puppy to poop. She was thorough, professional and clearly a real dog lover.

Information Rachel R. would like to know about your pet
I have no breed preferences - I adore every creature under the sun - and I'm a tough cookie, so I can lift and work with big dogs too! Before working with a new pet, I like to know: - Favorite toys/places/activities - Usual meal amount and timing, appropriate treats - Allergies, fears, anxieties, and triggers to avoid - History of aggression, esp with strangers - Territorial behaviors around food or habitat - Positive behaviors you'd like me to reinforce No special needs are a problem or deterrent, they're just important for me provide the best care for your pup. I have worked with a huge variety of ages and sizes - as long as you can provide detailed care instructions, I can definitely help you out!
A typical day
I am located in the Fenway neighborhood across from the park, and have a friendly cat at home, but I usually prefer to take care of pups in your home or area (to avoid stressing her out too often). While working as a professional dog walker, I took dogs through every single neighborhood in Boston. I'm a big fan of working with the environment, and I'm an expert at finding interesting spots in the area for a variety of activities. If the houses have nice gardens, we'll stop and smell the flowers; if there's a park nearby we can go for a run, chase sticks, or meet other dogs (but I can also avoid contact with strangers and/or dog parks if that's preferred - safety first, always). I love wildlife watching, so a squirrel or bird hunt is always good sport. If all else fails, I always carry a rope toy and a tennis ball!
