I have owned dogs for my entire life. There is nothing I love more than spending time with animals! My family pet is a Cairn Terrier called Leo, he is 5 years old. We also have a Jack Russell called Penny who is 2 years old. With my family dogs I have had experience raising and caring for puppies from toilet training to first walks and socialisation. I have also previously owned a West Highland Terrier who lived until he was almost 19! As a senior dog he had a lot of needs that involved special treatment such as administering oral medication, putting on his nappy (yes he wore a nappy!), being patient with him when he became deaf and making sure he was aware of his surrounding and generally helping him move around/carrying up and down steps as his joints were old and sore. I have also had experience in dog walking for my friends Border Collie who was very energetic and needed a lot of exercise. I am happy to take dogs out for as long as the need to burn off all of their energy! As a fourth year vet student at Glasgow University I have had a lot of work experience in vet practices, boarding kennels and catteries! I have experience of walking dogs of different sizes and temperaments on the leash and dealing with timid animals. I have worked at a rescue and boarding cattery where I had to deal with cats who came from bad backgrounds and were scared of/vicious with people. I have also worked at a boarding kennels where I had to walk and care for dogs who’s owners had gone on holiday. During my time here there were some dogs who were extremely timid and needed you to spend extra time gaining their trust and making them feel safe as it can be a very scary environment for some dogs. I would love to help care for, play with and walk your beloved pets. I have my own car and would be able to travel to you and travel to great locations for your pets to get exercise and explore.
