Pet care experience
💖 First time booking with Rover? Use code RACHEM83041 to get $20 off your first booking with me. 💖 Hi, I’m Rachel. I have been a nurse since 2014. I am currently taking a hiatus from nursing to slow down and focus on my family and my passion (animals). Before I became a nurse, I was a veterinary assistant for 6 years. I have also been fostering animals and pet sitting for 20 years. I am comfortable giving medications to dogs and cats, as well as caring for pets of all ages. I have experience with giving insulin injections, vaccines, subcutaneous fluid administration, oral medication, topical medication, medicated baths, eye drops, nose drops, and ear medication. ✨ I also offer discounted rates for multiple pets and extended stays. For multiple cats, the discount will be applied before booking is completed. Each additional cat in the same kitty hotel room will be $10/night. ✨
Reviews
This was our first time using Rover, and Rachel was awesome. She scheduled the meet and greet quickly, and took her time with us to make sure my dog was comfortable and it’d be a good fit. She is clearly an animal lover and I know my dog was in good hands, plus I got photo updates. Highly recommend.
Rachel took great care with my puppy. She was very proactive and responsive. Luna was very tired from playing. She fell asleep right away in the car as soon as I picked her up. I will definitely seek her out when I am back in town again. Highly recommended!
I was introduced to Rachel by someone at my local dog park who spoke very highly of her. I can, without a doubt, say that she surpassed all of my expectations. Over the past two months of going to Rachel almost every day, my dog Blue became a part of her family. Prior to going to Rachel, he had really never been away from me for more than a few hours and, being around a year old he is very attached. Rachel made him feel right at home. He always comes home tired and he has stopped being so excited to see me when I come to pick him up (sad for me but I know he is having a great time). Along with the expected play (I regularly get the cutest videos of Blue playing with Rachel, her family, and some other great dogs that she has coming over), Rachel goes above and beyond to help Blue get the attention he needs. A week ago he had an upset stomach and Rachel brought a stool sample to the Vet for me, picked up medicine, and even offered to take him in for an appointment if I wanted her to and couldn't make it myself. I did not have to ask for any of this, she simply volunteered. I don't know what I would have done without her. I am so glad I found Rachel, she keeps Blue and me sane during the busy times of the year!
Best dog sitter we have ever used, not joking.

Safety, trust & environment
While in my care, your pets’ safety and emotional wellbeing will be my top priority. Dogs will be supervised while in my fenced backyard and will otherwise be walked on a leash while outdoors. Inside, I have baby gates preventing access to the stairs and front door for extra safety. I will play with and exercise your dog based on their activity level/mobility. Your pups will also have access to the partially shaded backyard and main floor living area. I do allow dogs on the couches for snuggles. I’ll also provide water/food bowls and toys. If your dog sleeps in a kennel, I have one set up here with a bed and blankets. For your kitties, there is a private/quiet room upstairs with a cat tower, window for bird watching, cat beds, blankets, toys, bowls, litter box, and scratching post. They will get lots of playtime and cuddles as well!

Information Rachel M. would like to know about your pet
-Please let me know if your pet has any special needs, behaviors, allergies, or preferences. -Is there anything special that I can do to make your pet most comfortable? -For dog owners, how is your dog with other dogs? -What behaviors would you like for me to encourage/discourage? -Is your dog allowed to have treats or Kong toy with peanut butter?
A typical day
I live near Friendly Grove Park and Mission Creek Nature Park where there are walking trails and lots to explore and sniff! There will also be no shortage of indoor play time, backyard play, belly rubs and snuggles. I have a partially shaded, fully fenced backyard and have plenty of toys to play with as well. If the weather is not conducive for backyard play, I create an indoor play space in the living rooms. For kitties, I have a separate room with a window for bird watching, a tall cat tree, plenty of toys, and scratching post.
