Pet care experience
I have nearly two decades of experience caring for other’s pets, fostering cats, and walking dogs of all sizes, ages, and temperaments. I have worked in a veterinary office and have experience giving insulin and pills, and reacting appropriately in emergency situations. I truly love animals and try to help them at any opportunity; I have rescued abandoned kittens, volunteered hundreds of hours at shelters, and also at various animal adoption events in the DMV. I started walking the dogs in my neighborhood from a very young age to prove to my parents I could have my own dog! By the 6th grade I was very skilled at pack walks but now look forward to spending individual time with each dog on our shared walk. 🙂

Rachel was terrific with Juno! She sent us several texts a day with pictures and left our home spotless! She even started a load of laundry! Most importantly, she took great care of Juno and left us a framed picture of her. Thanks, Rachel! We hope that she wants to sit for us again.
Rachel is the best!
So happy to have Rachel back to take care of our cats. She is always so easy to work with and we never have to worry about the cats while we’re away. They are in very good hands. She also collects mail, packages, and goes above and beyond just the drop in visit to the house which is much appreciated. Thanks again as always Rachel!!
Rachel did a great job with our cat while we were on vacation. She sis a great job taking care of all of her needs, and provided us detailed updates. Our cat has automated food and water, and mainly just needs love when we were out of town, and Rachel made sure to give Pumpkin plenty of play time and treats. She even left us some printed pictures that she took of Pumpkin for when we got home!

I am happiest and most confident as a trusted animal caretaker when provided with detailed instructions and information about each unique pet (past and current medical concerns/issues, allergies, triggers, hiding spots, special needs etc.). I greatly prefer to conduct a meet and greet with you and your pet before you hire me, especially with overnight sitting.
A typical day
I will adjust to each dog’s unique personality and needs. I have been living in the DMV long enough to provide engaging and entertaining adventures, but also understand some dog’s prefer a laidback walk in familiar places.

Availability
These days, I work as a scientist at the NIH Bethesda campus with a flexible schedule. I would like to walk dogs in my nearby area and care for pets in a client’s home. I also have experience providing care to ‘exotic’ pets as well (birds, lizards, horses, saltwater fish, rabbits, and turtles so far)!
