A Pet-starved College Student
Pet care experience
Hi! I'm Rachel, and I'm a college student far from home. With classes being virtual and my family far away, I'm really missing the presence of furry friends in my life. Financially, I can't support my own dog or cat yet but I have so much love to give to pets and animals around me! What Sets Me Apart: I'm a university student studying a professional, competitive field, which makes me extremely organized and responsible....but I will also absolutely adore your pet. My friends can tell you -- when we pass by a dog on the street, they usually end up having to drag me away from cooing over it for half an hour. I really want to understand what you and your pets need from me -- I'm happy to let them on my bed for cuddles, but also to shoo them off if you don't want to create that habit. I can train good habits, and bake home-made treats to avoid allergies. I just...genuinely miss pets so much. Qualifications: I have been a pet owner for 15 years, from my first fish at 5 years old to my wonderful, fluffy Bichon Frise named Bobo who is still with us today. I have also helped foster 5 dogs with very different personalities and a variety of issues, including heartworm, separation anxiety, resource guarding, etc. They are all successfully adopted and taught me the importance of routine, discipline, and lots and lots of love.
Reviews
Rachel was very sweet and took great care of our girl! She sent us updates and was easy to get in touch with. Thanks so much, Rachel!
Our two year old rescue cat, Hobie stayed with Rachel for two weeks. It was his first time away from home and he was extremely nervous and shy. Rachel was absolutely amazing, giving him time to adjust and looking after his needs. In the end he was very comfortable and enjoyed his cuddles with Rachel. Rachel was able to give Hobie his needed meds and kept us up to date with pictures & videos!
Rachel is absolutely the best. She was kind enough to take a last minute booking for my little meatball, Tucker. Let me tell you that tuck is no easy puppy. He has a lot of behavioural nuances and past trauma where he requires a lot more attention and gentleness. Rachel was incredibly communicative and catered to Tucker’s special needs. Honestly cannot thank her enough for handling the situation with professionalism and constant updates.
Julia had a blast while hanging out with Rachel for the day. Rachel made her feel comfortable, she sent me photos and videos along with updates throughout the day and I could tell she played and spent quality time with my pup. I would certainly leave Julia with her again!

Information Rachel L. would like to know about your pet
What are good and bad habits you want to cultivate/avoid? Does your dog have any medical issues? Allergies? Where is your primary vet? What is their general personality? Any fears or anxieties? What are their favorite activities?
A typical day
I'm next to Union Square and the wonderful dog park there, and close to Washington Square Park if they'd enjoy a bit of a walk on the way. I have open space in my apartment to play fetch and tug-of-war, and I love cuddling and petting calmer dogs.
