Hi my name is Rachel and Im a veterinary technician with over 20 years experience doing everything from emergency to day practice and even research medicine, and currently work at a wonderful homeopathic- oriented vet clinic in Geneva. I've been a Rover sitter for over ten years now and don't do Rover quite as much as I used to. And while I do work full time as does my husband, we have some flexibility and for the right fit of a Rover guest, and we are happy to host. I have adopted one floof of my own at long last my soul dog came along, but Paisley is the most gentle and submissive sweetheart and has so far gotten along well with any of our Rover guests. We are cautious with an introductory period, have gates and methods for keeping dogs separated when indicated or for meal time, etc. We also have in house: two mellow dog disregarding cats, an ever-growing helpful daughter who adores animals , and a caged bird that is kept safely out of reach, all of which have not been a problem with guests . The advantage of booking with me? Well I'm sort of an unofficial dog expert for all intents and purposes. Having worked in animal hospitals, dog daycares, rescue shelters, done dog walking, and owned dogs for over 25 years, I have a lot of dog knowledge and feel confident I can handle almost any pet situation. I've seen it all, as they say. I am also very experienced and comfortable with giving medications, insulin injections, fluids and recognizing any special medical needs your pet might have. I can guarantee I probably have a good knowledge base of any pet affliction from diabetes to deafness, allergies to Addison's disease, I get it! Nervous pet parent? that's no problem, I get that too and am happy to do my best to keep you feeling as comfortable about your pets' experience and informed as I can through texts and pictures. Read assured I can easily recognize discomfort , stress and emergency situations with pets and can act appropriately. Your dog is literally one of the family when they are here us, and I treat them as my own despite my own dogs jealousy. If the weather is nice and your dog likes walks at the forest preserve or outings to the dog park we are happy to take a field trip with your permission. We want this to not only vacation for you but also for your buddy while you are away! Our house is small but comfortable for pets, we have durable gates to separate areas should we have any guests that dont' want to mingle. We have a very large yard (hopefully to soon be totally fenced in - but not quite yet, however for dogs that don't mind a long tether we have that option in the back) We have a big beautiful park just a few steps away too. My husband helps me with the dogs, he also has many years experience of owning dogs and working as a dog walker. We are excited to hear from you if we can be a good fit!
