Tell your dog I say "hi!"
Pet care experience
I started taking care of my neighbor's dog (a yellow lab) when I was 8 years old. Every time they came back from vacation, I had taught their dog a new trick. I finally convinced my parents to let me have my own dog at the age of 13, Emma (a black lab), and I was her main caretaker until I left for college. I rescued the sweetest pitbull mix, Abba Zaba, in 2008 and enjoyed 14 beautiful years with her working on socialization, basic and speciality tricks like "stick 'em up" and giving her non-stop love and affection until she passed away at the ripe age of 16 years old. I've worked as an assistant with dog trainers over the years. My friends and family trust me with their furry family members (both dogs & cats) and have had experience with all ages, sizes, breeds and health issues. I am the type of person that says hi to every dog I see and I've been told that I am an "animal whisperer," especially with animals that don't normally like people. I will treat your furry family member with the same love and care that I have given to my own dogs and cats over the years.
Reviews
Rachel did a great job trying to make our skiddish and territorial kitty more comfortable, a big job! She made some progress and took care of the "business" of food, litter, etc. She provided detailed reports and pictures on each visit.
Rachel is fantastic! Cassidy took an instant liking to her and it’s clear she understands dogs; he was happy and well-taken care of. Logistically, Rachel is very easy to communicate with and was always on-time. Will definitely re-book in the future!!
Rachel and her husband absolutely spoiled our dog while we were out of town! It warmed our heart to see our dog so happy and cared for! Safe to say they are amazing dog people, in every way possible. Can’t recommend them enough!
Rachel was incredible with my pup! My dog is leash-reactive and they were so great about it, understanding all the different ways to keep her safe and happy on walks. Rachel sent great updates, and when I picked my dog up she was so happy and content, so I know they did an amazing job taking care of her and making sure she got all the walks and cuddles she needed. Couldn’t have asked for a better boarding experience, thank yall so much!

I have a small, unfenced yard but I will leash your dog for potty breaks. I live with my husband whom I have been with for 18 years and loves dogs as much as I do. We do not have children or other pets so my full attention will be on your pet and they will be with me (or my husband during my work hours) 100% of the time.

Information Rachel K. would like to know about your pet
I'd love to give your dog or cat the absolute best care I can so anything you think I should know that would help me achieve that. Things that would be helpful to know like behavioral challenges like aggression with food, other animals, or people, sensitivities (like noise or anxiety triggers), or any health issues/requirements so I can give your animal the absolute best care I can.
A typical day
I understand the importance of stimulating dogs both mentally and physically as well as socializing them with people and other dogs. We will go on walks out at either the beach (like Hendry's, Goleta Beach & Leadbetter), the Butterfly Grove, Douglas Preserve, etc and can also take them to dog parks to work on socialization if that's something you're interested in. We can work on tricks and training that they already have the baseline knowledge for (an additional fee for new tricks/training), go on car rides, and play games, like my favorite, "find it!" which helps them use their brain and develop and utilize their sense of smell and ability to problem solve.

Availability
I currently teach Pilates part-time so I will have plenty of time to give your dog the love and attention he/she deserves. We will go on plenty of walks, have potty breaks as often as needed, I will work on training if desired (for an additional fee), and will give your pup plenty of love and snuggles. I'm available for boarding both weekdays and weekends.
