Pet care experience
I am a Florida transplant who has been a dog owner most of my life, and dog-sitting for neighbors, family, and friends for several years now. I have experience taking care of dogs from as young as 2 months, to as old as 12 years. My own dogs are/were lab-mixes, but I have cared for a variety of breeds - maltipoo, golden retriever, pit bull, and more. I work freelance jobs in and out of town, and while I am home in between gigs, I like to keep busy. Since I love dogs, and have experience walking and caring for them, I would love to earn a little extra money doing something fun. I started taking care of dogs during school breaks while people were on vacations, and have continued ever since. I am patient, reliable, understand dog behavior, and am ready to give your pup some love.

Rachel has done a great job in caring for our golden retriever, Ginger, for the past few years. We have used her on numerous occasions, and she treats Ginger just like her own dog. It is such a great feeling knowing your dog is treated just like you would treat them. We don’t like to use boarding facilities and Rachel has given me a great piece of mind when we are out of town. We would highly recommend her!

I require a meet-up before going into a home. I want to make sure I know a person’s home security (do they have a code? Is it in a gated neighborhood? Do they leave the door unlocked? Etc.), and to make sure I meet the pet before I care for it (and so the animal knows me before I drop in). I get all the owner instructions up front and am very good at keeping a routine in place.

It is important to me to know if a pet has a specific routine - I have worked with dogs who will only walk a certain route through the neighborhood, or are very afraid of loud cars. Especially when walking, I need to know if the dog might be especially reactive on a leash. Any commands the pets know are helpful for me to know too.
A typical day
I myself love long walks, so I am happy to go with dogs all around and take our time. I like to make sure the pets have had ample time to play before I go, whether it’s fetch or tug or feather toys.

I work freelance in and out of town for weeks ar a time, and often have chunks of time at home. I like to keep busy, and am used to odd hours/flexible scheduling.
