Happy to work with any personality!

Pet care experience

I'm happy to take care of your pet no matter the species! I am generally available weekends or weekdays after 4:30. I've had dogs and cats all my life growing up, and started caring for others' pets at a young age. My mom ran her own petsitting business, and I frequently went with her to care for animals. When I was older, I began petsitting neighborhood dogs and cats. I have experience with dogs from chihuahuas to german shephards, and I will love them no matter their personality, quirks, or disability! I have experience working with blind dogs, raw-fed cats (I am raw friendly, as long as it is a well-researched and correctly balanced diet!), older dogs needing constant (overnight) care, and exotic animals requiring special attention, in addition to dogs and cats of varying energy levels not needing special attention. I'm happy to run or hike with your dog, or sit on the couch and relax with him/her. I do have a full-time job so on weekdays I will be gone for periods of 8 hours, though I work about 15 minutes from home and can stop by midday to check in if necessary. I am more than happy to petsit other animals, including cats (I have two of my own), rabbits (I have had two), hedgehogs (I have had four, including three rescues, and fostered a fifth), and any other fur, scale, quill, etc. babies. I am also experienced with photography, and would be more than happy to take photos of your dog as an additional service. Portfolio and pricing available upon request. Daily snapshots of pets are, of course, automatically provided as part of any Rover service.

Rachel was great - she provided updates on how our cat was doing, plenty of photos, and was very professional and responsive. Will definitely ask her to watch Spanky again soon!

Rachel noticed I was low on cat food while I was away for a week and took it on herself to get a fresh bag for me (with my permission). She’s an excellent caretaker and I trust her with my little boy. I’ll definitely be booking with Rachel again in the future!

Rachel was great with our cats. She was able to make a connection with our very shy and skittish cat that no one else has. And, she was also good at giving our other cat his heart medication. She was also very dependable, mature, and smart. We will request her services again, and Rover is lucky to have her!

Rachel came to take care of our cat while we were out of town for a long weekend. She was timely, very attentive, and very personable. Milo doesn’t easily warm up to people, and he spent the entire Meet & Greet under the couch, but Rachel was able to lure him out to cuddle and play when she came for the drop-in visits. She sent us lots of cute pictures too! We know Milo was in great hands and we’re already planning to book with her for our next trip.

Safety, trust & environment

COVID-19 precautions: I am fully vaccinated and regularly tested (see date of last test below). I always wear a mask during Meet & Greets, and am happy to wear one during visits upon request! Date of last negative test: Thu., 11/18/21 ——— I take pet safety and home security very seriously, because I understand how easy it is for something to go wrong. My petcare motto is: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” I also take pet comfort very seriously, and I do what I can to minimize stress on the animal(s). I treat all pets as I would hope my own pets would be treated, which includes emphasizing playtime and trust building as well as ensuring safety. For example, my two cats are skittish rescues, and I have cared for skittish rescues. I know how difficult it can be for them when their trusted people are away, so I work with them at their comfort level to build trust and ease the transition. In addition to pet safety and comfort, I take your home security very seriously. I painstakingly ensure that I lock every door before leaving, leave lights on or off as requested by the client, etc. if you have special requests, please let me know!

Information Rachel K. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know any special needs or attention required, energy level so I can plan accordingly, and whether they get along with other dogs or cats as I have several pets of my own. My cats are kept separate from clients’ dogs as a precaution, and my dog will also be kept separate unless supervised.

A typical day

I love to go for easy or strenuous walks with your dog, and/or play with your cat. I have several (clean) streams and ponds nearby, and will happily take your pet there for walks.
