Pet care experience
I’ve recently decided to do this full-time while pursuing a masters in the Fall, so I’m home all day to give your babies the attention the need!!! I’ve grown up my entire life with all kinds of pets from cats & dogs to birds and farm animals. I used to work at an exotic animal sanctuary but now only volunteer there where animal behavior and safety are key. All throughout high school and college, I shadowed small animal veterinarians and became a veterinary technician for a while before chasing my dream of working with exotic animals. Over the years, I’ve trained puppies and also offered palliative care to older dogs who weren’t able to get around or who have recently had surgery. I can handle a dog of any age and health. I've adminstered medications, given shots, taken out stitches, done general grooming, and taken care of our neighbors' and friend's animals. I’ve taken care of a couple dogs who were blind &/or deaf in a clinical setting. Animals are my passion, and I will treat your babies like my own.
Reviews
Rachel did such a good job with our puppy! Our 6 month old pup has confinement anxiety and gets nervous when meeting new people and dogs, but he immediately loved his home away from home! I knew he was in good hands and when we leave him for a longer stay I know I won’t have to worry about him.
Rachel is fantastic with dogs, she’s watched my dog about 4 times now, and she has treated my dog as one of her own, giving her lots of cuddles and attention. My dog also loves her dogs, and gets along with the pack. She’s great at communicating and always tries to work with you every step of the way. I had to rehome my dog unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, and Rachel was made aware, wen I came to pick up my puppy, Rachel had put together a big bag of dog treats, toothpaste and toothbrush all brand new for her, which was wonderful of her. Whenever time and chance permits me go get another dog, I will be booking again with Rachel 💕🙏🏽🥰.. xoxo thank you Rachel
Omg I highly recommend!!!! Rachel and her family are amazing people, she took great care of my puppy and even gave her a bath, and when my puppy refused to eat any of the boring food I dropped off, Rachel proceeded to ask my permission to give her some of her own food, which was very thoughtful. Her dogs were super friendly. She updated me with pictures all day long. We will be back for sure !! Angel and Rob are very kind people
Rachel was very attentive and our dog had a blast with her dogs too. Our pup was in good hands with her!

The first thing I do in the morning is take care of my animals. They get fed twice a day & let outside any time they want to go. The youngest dog uses a potty bell, so he lets us know when we needs to go out. As far as their day to day goes, they stay out of their crates unless we’re both out of the house & just get to play or lay around all day. The oldest has crate anxiety, so he is never crated & always freely roams the house. We have a surplus of toys for them to play with and a huge fenced in backyard for them to play in. The house can also be sectioned off to restrict access or separate animals, for their comfort (ie stress, nap time, feeding times), as it is almost 2700 sq ft. I don’t crate animals unless instructed by the owner to do so. I have security cameras, & the animals are never left unattended outside. Plenty of updates will be sent(:

Information Rachel H. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your pet has a special needs or needs any special attention. I do not want to upset my dogs with females in heat or male dogs that spray. My 3 dogs are all spayed and neutered.
A typical day
I have plenty of toys, love to play fetch & tug, have a huge backyard for the dogs to play in, & a dog park about 10 min from the house. We can also take a long walk around the neighborhood and allow to the dogs to take in all the smells and mark their territory. In the warmer months, I have a swimming pool in my backyard (I will not leave them unattended outside) that my dog Nala loves to swim in and a doggy pool for those who just want to cool off. I can also work on positive reinforcement training to stimulate their brains. At work I come up with enrichment projects for the animals, so if your dog needs extra mental stimulation, I can come up with some ideas with time to plan.

I’m currently in between zookeeper jobs right now & decided to do this full-time, so I am home all week. I still go to the sanctuary a few times a month to volunteer, but my schedule can be planned around the animals staying with me. They will be my priority and have my attention.
