Your dog's new bestie!

Pet care experience

About Me: If your dog could talk, they’d beg you to book their vacation here! Hi! I’m Rachel, your new dog obsessed BFF! I'm a positive dog trainer in training currently pursuing my dog training certification and I’m home full time. I’ve been working with dogs professionally for over 16 years and I’m a dog body language and group dynamics expert. I’ve managed and consulted for several full-service dog boarding and daycare facilities, worked in veterinary hospitals, animal shelters and dog training programs. I’m the creator and host the Mindful Mutt Mama podcast (launching the Spring of 2019 - yay!) and when I'm not nerding out over dogs, you'll find me on a local stage around town singing my own brand of country music. This Is Us: My husband Gabe is equally obsessed with dogs and has several years of experience and knowledge under his belt as well. We’ve got two dogs and a cat, Birdie, Hoss and Clippy. They are completely accustomed to sharing their home with other dogs and are always happy to make new friends! The First Date: We require a meet and greet for all first time slumber party guests. Here’s why: Your dogs experience - Our mission is to always put the dogs first, even if that means turning down a job. Like we said, “If your dog could talk, they’d beg you to book their vacation here!” but since your dog can’t flat-out ask you to book with us, we consider it our responsibility to listen to the other ways they communicate to determine if we're the right fit for them. No two dogs are alike and we take pride in matching the experience we create with the dogs who will truly benefit from it. Your peace of mind - It’s hard to leave your dog. We’ve been there. We want your dog to feel completely at home with us, but we want you to feel completely comfortable with us too! We’ve found the best way to eliminate drop off day anxiety (which can totally transfer over to your dog) is for you meet us in person. This gives you the opportunity ask us any questions we might not have answered for you here, and takes away the awful “I’m about to take my baby to a total strangers house!!” thoughts that will totally stress you out if unchecked, again, we’ve been there. Repeat Stays: We LOVE repeat guests! We wanna be your dog’s go to vacation destination! We place a really high value on getting to know the dogs we care for, and repeat stays strengthen your dog’s bond with us. Repeat stays also mean your dog isn’t having to contend with a new environment anymore, which significantly reduces stress levels so that your dog can experience even more enjoyment from their stay! Win win!

My senior dog settled in with Rachel & her dogs fairly easily then acted like she was at home. She was calm & relaxed when I picked her up. I knew she was safe & well-cared for. I will definitely use Rachel again!

This was Lu's first time daycare. We had an initial meet and greet, where Rachel and Gabriel were worked to slowly introduce Lu to the other pups and to get to know her needs. Her first day was a success! Rachel was awesome with communication and updates and Lu returned home a happy tired pup.

We recently used Rachel and Gabriel to puppy sit our 14 week old Corgi and truly cannot thank them enough for our exceptional experience! It was our first time leaving our puppy for more than a few hours, so we were nervous going into a long weekend away. From the get-go Rachel put all of my nerves at ease. She is the perfect mix of professional in her communications/scheduling, and personal when it comes to the care she provides. Rachel sent us very regular updates and pictures, and got back to us right away when we just needed our puppy fix :) I whole-heartedly recommend Rachel and Gabriel, and we plan to use them anytime we can.

Lucy had a great time with Rachel! She is quick to respond to texts and we got lots of updates on how Lucy was doing, including photos. I wouldn't hesitate to send Lucy to her again when we need a dog sitter.

A typical day

The Experience: Comfort: We’ll give your dog heaps of love and affection! It’s the best part of our job :) We’ve got a collection of dog beds and blankets for our guests, but all of our furniture is dog friendly too. We have laminate floors (yay for easy clean up!) but if you have a senior dog who has a hard time getting traction on our floors, we’ve got yoga mats that we can easily lay out to make getting around easier for your dog. You’re also welcome to bring any toys or bedding that you think will enhance your dogs stay. Supervised Group Play: Our dogs love to play with our guest dogs. Both of our dogs are pretty skilled at interpreting dog body language and they know how to read the room. But we still always supervise playtime to make sure the play stays healthy and fun for everyone. Food and Meds: We want to keep your dog’s routine as familiar as possible. Whatever you normally feed your dog at home is what we ask you to bring for their stay. Raw food is welcome too. We always feed dogs separately and we’ve got slow feeding bowls, snuffle matts, puzzle feeders, food stands and crates depending of your dog’s preference. We’re happy to administer your dog’s medications with the exception of insulin. We unfortunately cannot accommodate diabetic dogs. Training & Mental Stimulation: A dog who is having its physical and mental needs met is a happy dog. So we play training games and activities with our dogs daily. Your dog just might come home with a few new tricks and skill up their sleeve! Safety: Your dog’s safety during their stay is everything to us. Our yard is fenced, however we never leave dogs out in the yard unattended. We don’t ever anticipate needing it, but we’ve got a canine first aid kit on hand. We have a wealth of first aid knowledge and we’ll be closely monitoring your dog during their stay for any changes to their health. We maintain a regular cleaning routine to ensure your dog stays healthy in our care and our home is set up with dogs in mind. Pictures & Videos: If you want them, we’ll shower you with pictures and videos of your pup living it up at our place, because let’s be honest, we're going to be taking a ton of pictures either way...it's the whole reason I opted for an iPhone with extra storage - more room to capture all the dog related goodness!
