Will love your dog as my own!
Pet care experience
I have had dogs since I was a baby, from small purebreds to large mutts, and now finally have my own dog. I've also dog-sat for dogs for many years, taking care of my family friends' dog for many years as well as our own family dogs. My boyfriend and I got a 4-month old puppy about a year ago as well, so I have experience with young, exciteable dogs and with basic training. I share a spacious apartment with my boyfriend and our dog Pacho, our 65-pound lab-pointer mix (crate-trained, non-reactive, loves to play with dogs of all sizes). We can walk your dog separately or with Pacho. Given that we are both Ph.D. students, we have extremely flexible schedules to incorporate your dogs needs. We have lots of toys and couch/bed space for your dog to make their own!
Reviews
Rachel was great! She arranged to meet with us ahead of time to get to know our dog, and then took good care of him. She was in great communication with us, and we are very grateful!
Rachel is a wonderful and dependable walker (I have two dogs (one puppy and one adult dog). Rachel has been great with both, especially helping the older dog welcome the puppy to the pack. She is timely in pickups and my dogs come back happy and well exercised. She is patient (with puppy and person alike). In terms of communication, she is excellent. Asking how I want for the walk (especially helpful with the puppy). I would highly recommend Rachel for your dog walks!! 5 woofs out of 5 as far as I am concerned.
Rachel has cared for my dog for several years and whether it's a simple walk or an extended stay, she always provides top notch service. My dog loves her - she greets him (with his favorite belly rub), plays with him (she invented his pull toy game) and even lightly grooms him (she gave us a furminator)! Rachel is attentive to special needs/requests (the length & intensity of a walk) and important details (med changes). She has made herself available on short notice, is adaptable (adding a second dog to the mix) and always follows through. She is cheerful, loving, energetic and reliable. I give Rachel my highest recommendation, without reservation.
Rachel has taken care of my dog Otto on several occasions and been so wonderful with him. She has come to my apartment to walk the dog in our neighborhood and we trust her coming into our space. She is always gentle with Otto who is older and sometimes needs a little extra patience. Rachel has also taken Otto for a weekend while I was out of town and she was great about sending me updates and sticking to his schedule. I highly recommend Rachel, she is organized, trustworthy and clearly loves animals.

We feed Pacho twice a day and walk him 3-4 times a day, with lots of snuggles and a bit of playing in between. Dogs are welcome to roam freely about the house during the day, and lounge on the couch or guest room bed. Pacho sleeps in his crate at night, and we prefer other dogs do the same, but have other options. On weekends, we usually do longer walks around the neighborhood or in nearby parks, but keep a pretty relaxed schedule.

Information Rachel G. would like to know about your pet
In advance of hosting your dog, I need to know to know about any special dietary or walking needs and any leash reactivity or resource-guarding. I always feed dogs separately, but any history of aggression or reactivity is a must-know, so I can keep your dog and my dog safe. I'd also love to know whether your dog has any fears about men, as I live with my boyfriend.
A typical day
We love to spend time at Fresh Pond and at the Harvard Observatory with our dog, and take him to play with his sister and a group of neighborhood dogs nearly every day in the evening. We also love to play with tug toys in the house, and occasionally give doggie puzzles to dogs who need a little more mental stimulation!

Availability
We walk our own dog 3 times per day + 1 final bathroom break at night. One walk usually includes a trip to a nearby dog play-group, which we are happy to bring friendly, non-reactive dogs to as well.
