Pet care experience

I have walked, house-sat, and pet-sat for people in my community for years and I have experience with dogs and cats of all ages, needs, and temperaments. Due to my experience working and volunteering in dog and cat shelters and socializing reactive dogs and cats, I consider myself skilled at working with socially anxious or reactive pets. I also have a particular soft spot for working with senior and special needs pets.

Rachael did a fantastic job taking care of our fur babies. She sent us photos and kept us updated on how they were doing. I will definitely use Rachael in the future!

Rachel is an absolute jewel! She took excellent care of my girl and my home. The neighbors are saying she was wonderful walking Celeste and always friendly and stop to chat. I feel safe and secure leaving Rachel in charge of my everything!

This has been my first experience using Rover, I’m rarely away from my pups and on occasions where I needed help I’d always had family close by until recently. I was nervous to try something new being that one is a senior and the other still has high puppy energy, but my nerves were calmed after meeting Rachel for the first time and even more so throughout the weekend. I was away with limited cell service, but every time I had access I already had pictures and updates waiting and that meant the world to me! Rachel let me know about my senior being bothered by allergies and gave her medicine for it, and kept me updated about my puppies earache and took such great care of them both. Rachel is the bomb and 5 stars aren’t enough, I wish I could give more.

Safety, trust & environment

I am very adaptable, and I aim to maintain your pets' typical routine in your home to keep them happy and healthy! This means keeping walking, feeding, sleeping, and play schedules and habits as consistent as possible with their normal day-to-day.

Information Rachel G. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your fur baby has any favorite treats or toys, as well as what high-value treats I can give (like peanut butter, chicken, long-lasting chews, etc) to hold their focus. I also would like to understand your dog's play/exercise drive and their typical limit - I know some dogs could chase a tennis ball for hours, but end up achey, grumpy, or uncomfortable if they play hard for too long. Another good piece of info is your dog's nap schedule. Different dogs have different rest needs, and I always want to provide enough down time to keep your pup happy and rested, even if they seem at first like they want to play all day.

A typical day

I love taking dogs on walks in fun, new environments where they can explore and get dynamic enrichment while working on building engagement and focus on walks! I particularly like Lake Herrick and the North Oconee Greenway. For pups who don't love walks as much, I'm happy to spend lots of time throwing a favorite ball or toy in the yard or house while working on recall. For dogs who are just not that into exercise, I'm great at keeping them engaged during a training session, but I'm just as happy to provide and/or stuff a treat puzzle toy and just hang out and cuddle.
