I grew up always having at least one dog and one cat, often multiple of each, and have continued to be a pet owner throughout adulthood. In high school, I was often tagged by coaches and adult mentors to sog-sit their dogs for extended periods of time. Last year we rescued a 6-month-old Labrador mix puppy and I have done lots of learning about how to train her. I have paid special attention to animal behavior especially having young children in my household. This year we rescued a stray kitten and have been able to get the dog and cat to be friendly with each other. I respect the perspective and feelings of animals as they assimilate into our world with us. I know how busy life can be and how hard it is to have to leave our animals home during the day. I’m at a point where my life is flexible enough to help fellow pet owners take care of their fur babies when they can’t be at home.
