Throughout my life, I've had several dogs that I've taken care of since they were just puppies. I've always felt an affinity to dogs and animals, meaning that I offer a compassionate approach with pet care that you'll struggle to find elsewhere.

Rachel has looked after our dog Josy a few times now and it has always been really smooth and easy for us. Josy is really settled there and we know she's being well looked after- thanks again!
Josy spent the day with Rachel and her partner for the first time and it went really well. We felt reassured that she was well looked after- they took the time to meet her before and learnt about her needs (she's a senior rescue dog and can be reactive, but they were very understanding). Rachel is a fantastic sitter! We left our six-month-old whippet pup for the first time tonight, and felt so lucky to have Rachel looking after him. She has experience of dogs, and whippets specifically, to our delight. Our pup was happy and healthy on our return. Will definitely be booking again. :-)

Whether I'm boarding or simply taking your dog for a nice stroll, I will always put their comfort and safety above all else. When I'm not at home, my partner usually is - he's as enthusiastic about dogs as I am and is happy to assist with day-care if I'm working or have other duties. I only work 3 days a week typically, and my partner is available on these days I have working, so we're both able to assist with any needs you require! He's a fantastic dog dad, and will take your puppy on lots of long walks and send me updates if I'm at work. On my days off specifically I will put all my attention into caring for your pet and plan my day around their needs. We can travel around Edinburgh, or even further if you're comfortable - I love going to new or interesting places but let me know if your pup if alright with buses or trains before we set off! If not, that's alright too, we live beside Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat, and are very close to Portobello. Let us know if your dog is alright with long walks, or if they prefer sand and we'll accommodate their needs! Let me know about your pups' personality, energy levels and how they respond to certain situations, and I will quickly adapt my approach to your furry companion :)

I'd like to know a little about their personality and how well they respond to meeting other dogs. Energy level is also important for me to know as while at home I'm typically studying, so although I love having a dog in the flat, I can't provide 24/7 attention if this is needed, but I'm happy to have your pup curl up in bed beside me! That doesn't say that I'm not alright with energetic doggies - I can accommodate for their needs and alter my study/work schedule depending on what they require; I'm very flexible on my rota :) Also, tell me how they behave off the lead. While I'll typically keep them on their leash, if you're happy with them being let off then just let me know if I need to be careful of certain situations. I know that certain dog breeds (my whippets included) behave atrociously off the lead and will chase anything that moves, so knowing this in advance would be beneficial to both myself and your furry friend, meaning that we can plan our activities around this! Don't worry if you don't let them off the lead, we have such a wide, open space at Holyrood that even on the leash there is a lovely wander :)
A typical day
Holyrood Park is one of my favourite areas to walk - there are a large number of dogs in the park itself and the area is well closed off from incoming traffic, making it a perfect area for a nice run about or a game of fetch! I currently live a stones throw from the base of Arthur's Seat, so I know plenty of dog friendly trails in the area. Even a simple walk from the flat into town has a scenic tour of Holyrood and the Royal Mile, and perhaps a stop for a pup cup along the way! Portobello beach is also a lovely area for dogs to socialise and have a splash in the water and a little dig in the sand! Living close-by is such an advance, especially with a pup who enjoys this kind of environment:)

Availability
I'm currently working part-time at the Royal Edinburgh, allowing for several free days that I'd love to fill with pet care and the company of an animal. My work days are Thursday - Saturday 9am-5pm, but on these days my partner will be at the flat so if you require doggy day-care or boarding then just ask and I can see whether this is possible.He loves dogs as much as I do, and I'll be there after work to give your pup a nice long walk before bedtime. Please do ask though before booking as depending on your location and needs I may be able to adjust my work rota to help!
