I've worked in a animal shelter for about 2 years before relocating. I've also taken care of many family pets while away. I love animals in general (and animal planet too!) and learning more about animals is truly interesting. Having your animal open up to me would be the most important thing, using forceful tactics are always horrible to gain a mutual respectable relationship with your pet. I'm currently new to this app, and I might not be an expert, a dog/cat whisperer, or a vet but I do know the basics in order to keep your animal safe and to feel welcomed. Communication along with you as the owner is the biggest thing. Whatever basis you have and ground rules I will have the upmost respect for.
