Loves Critters of All Kinds
Pet care experience
I have taken care of dogs for as long as I can remember. I grew up with a German Shepherd and Boxers; my first dog was a spunky Jack Russell that was 110% pure terrier attitude. I also have experience caring for cats, birds, guinea pigs, snakes - you name it, I have probably cared for it (and am open for caring for any pet - I love animals!). I am a current pet-parent and have a 2-year old German Shepherd mix named Dakota (around 40 lbs), a 2-year old domestic medium hair cat named Zeus, and a 6-year old parrotlet (a bird) named Kiwi. I treat any critter in my care like it is my own, and am happy to help take care of any furry/feathered (scaled?) family members. I offer boarding in home (as long as they get along with the resident critters and are a good fit), doggy (or kitty) day-care, drop-in visits, and walking. Prior to boarding/in-home critter care, I do require a meet and greet to make sure it is a good fit for all parties. I live in a townhome within a pet-friendly community. Although I don't have a fenced yard, there is a walking trail just outside my front door, a nearby off-leash exercise area, and close proximity to Basset Creek Dog Park. Please reach out with any questions/requests, and appreciate you taking the time to visit my Rover profile.
Reviews
Rachael, her husband and her resident animals were amazing hosts! I received tons of updates with pictures and videos. She gave Baylee special treats, lots of activity, and snuggles! It was our first weekend with Rachael, but it won't be our last.
I have known Rachael for over six years. Rachael is a lover of animals. She would do an amazing job taking care of anyone’s pets. Rachael is the most caring and honest individual I have ever met. She would take care of your pet like it was hers. I would definitely leave my pets in her care.
I Have Rachael walk our golden retriever on a weekly basis and She is such a kind, gentle trustworthy person whom we both adore!! So happy to have found her!! Very punctual and attentive!
Rachael is the perfect solution to caring for pets when in need or have to travel or sit. With detailed updates per day, including photos, know that everything is under control at home and safe. Using Rachael has made leaving our pets less stressful for us as well as our cherished furry family members.

Our dog and cat have free reign of the house - they are allowed on the furniture and on the bed. Plenty of dog beds around as well. We do kennel Dakota when we are not home, and would prefer for boarding dogs to have a kennel they can be placed in as well (for times when we are briefly away from home). This is for the safety of our cat Zeus, as well as to help ensure the boarder would stay safe in their kennel.

Things that are good to know ahead of time are how vigorous the doggos like to exercise (power walk vs. slow meander). It is also good to know if reactive to people, other dogs, both. My Jack Russel was reactive (a.k.a. selective) to both dogs and people, so I have that experience. I had another dog, a puggle, that loved people, but disliked other dogs. I have experience walking large and small dogs, including at the same time (I used to walk two boxers, a rat terrier, and my Jack Russell all at the same time ?).
A typical day
I am an expert at playing fetch (my Jack Russel LOVED fetch). I love going for walks with a dog to enjoy the outdoors and get in a little exercise for myself. As noted earlier, I am more than happy to bring dogs to the dog park or an off-leash exercise area and can bring Dakota with. She is young enough where she still enjoys running/playing and having a playmate. I will also make some special snacks like a peanut butter Kong or frozen treat like a pup cup (when the weather is toasty). We have plenty of dog toys in the house for things like fetch, tug, and general chewing (always under supervision).

I am fully remote and work from home. My weekday morning routine starts around 5:45 AM, which is when I typically feed Dakota her breakfast (Zeus has an automatic feeder - best investment ever!). At noon, I feed Dakota a lunch, have a potty break, and usually bring her for a 15-minute walk (depending on the weather). Dinner is around 5:00 PM, along with another potty break/spending time outside. There are a couple more evening potty breaks (around 6:30 or 7:30 PM, and one last one around 9 or 9:30 PM). I can let a dog out for additional potty breaks if that is typical for them.
