A cool dog mom
Pet care experience
*As of 05/01/24, daycare and boarding services will be available only for weekends; boarding for M-F will be available for returning guests only. *12/29/23: price increase for services will be effective by 01/29/24* **Due to the new canine respiratory illness, all dogs must be up to date on their vaccinations and must not be presenting symptoms 24-48 hours before drop-off. In effort to keep all dogs safe, we are implementing these precautions and providing our best efforts in keeping our space clean and sanitized during & in-between stays; this includes toys, bedding, bowls, kennels, living spaces, etc.** **Now booking through May 2024** ***Booking quickly for January; please schedule accordingly especially with the holiday season*** **In-home services (boarding and daycare) book quickly. For new clients: for any potential bookings, please reach out at least three weeks prior your prospective dates with availability for M&G. All new guests must complete a Meet & Greet before boarding and daycare services** What does a stay with me & my family look like? For starters, we enjoy being around dogs and take great pride in showing love & affection to our own fur child as any parent would- making sure they are safe, healthy, and comfortable. So we know how your world circles around them too. So who am I? I'm a local dog mom that has moved back from living in NoVa. I'm pretty familiar with taking care of dogs considering I currently dote and center my life around a sweet 4yr old black lab mix named Sage and grew up with a couple Maltese fur babies. Within the past few years, I’ve helped family & friends with boarding, drop-ins, dog-walking, and house-sitting. I officially joined Rover in 2022 and have made some connections with some wonderful clients- some routinely, some occasionally, and some just once. Additionally, I’m a registered foster parent through the local shelter. One of the most rewarding experiences as a sitter or fur-friend is building a relationship with the fur babies and seeing them excited to come over.
Reviews
Rachael took the extra time to get introduced to my dog. She kept us updated and took good care of our fur baby. Thanks!
Traveling is better when you know how well your "children" are being taken care of. Rachael's care is awesome.
Always exceeds expectations. Our dogs like her better than us.
Rachael F. cancelled a booking 2 days before it was scheduled to begin.

At home, I will be able to supervise pets full-time and have the added bonus of a fenced backyard which we regularly tend to. We have a crate on hand, extra bowls, pet bed/bedding, pet steps, and toys for the occasional overnight stay. I wash and sanitize these items on a regular basis so they are ready for friends. At your home, I honor your privacy and provide detailed reports of how time was spent with your fur-friend(s) during drop-ins and walks.

Information Rachael F. would like to know about your pet
- Does your dog have any allergies/sensitivities? - What kind of routine does your dog expect throughout the day/night? - Do you consider your dog "high-energy?" and if so, what does that look like? How do you provide stimulation for them? - What can we expect of our fur friend’s temperament based on selected service? - How does trauma show up in your dog's behavior? Especially at home or out? (e.g. is touch or sound a trigger for them?) -If we go on a walk, how do they behave (e.g. just us; when they see another dog/person; or in a busy area?) - Do they get along with other dogs or people? (e.g. are they reactive- how can we control their surroundings to alleviate their nerves?) - What is their behavior like when you, the owner, is away? - How territorial are they when you are home vs away? - How often would you like updates/photos of your fur child?
A typical day
We are fans of sleeping in and cuddling; we then start the day with setting our intentions and words of affirmation (meditation and morning walks are optional). Our routine throughout the day includes endless opportunities to go outside and potty in the privacy of our fenced-in backyard. There, your fur friend will find tranquility and plenty of room to sniff around. They will also find the option to play with toys such as tennis balls & frisbees if they desire to partake in some more sporty activities. Depending on the weather and physical capabilities, "nature" walks around the neighborhood are available- giving your fur child an opportunity to enjoy the scenery and foliage around while getting plenty of chances to sniff and relieve themselves. If there is a time when they need to be left alone due to an errand or such, a large crate/gate is provided if needed to ensure pet safety and comfort until we can assure they will be fine at home. Doggy tv or music will almost always be available during the period, as well as a cookie or an approved, homemade Kong treat (pb, green beans, etc.) to help ease any anxiety and set the vibe. Bedtime consists of potty time, a treat, and plenty of belly rubs & cuddles with their bedtime story. They have the option to pick whichever available bed they'd like to sleep in before being tucked in for the night.
