Pet care experience
We're Priya and Jamie, plus our 3 year old lurcher, Carlos! We both work from home, with one of us at home on any day of the week, meaning we can look after your dog any day or time. We live within a short walk of 4 parks plus the massive Tottenham marshes, so are well set for taking dogs on a variety of walks! We have experience of different types of dogs, including sighthounds, labradors, and golden retrievers. We know that every dog is an individual with their own personalities, likes and quirks! Having rescued Carlos, we have a good understanding of working with dogs who might have issues with socialization, reactivity, or nervousness. We would work hard to make sure your dog feels as happy and relaxed as possible, and would also be happy to continue any behavioural modification you might have in place. We know that exercise is crucial, but also mental stimulation, play, and a healthy amount of interaction during the day. We will ensure that the dogs are only left alone for as long as you're comfortable, and have a large crate which we'd be able to use if your dog is relaxed and happy in crates and if that is your preference. We will make sure that your dog is well looked after and will keep you updated with daily videos or photos if you'd like Toys and blankets and are available for your dogs stay, as well as full use of our furniture. We will maintain as normal a routine as possible.
Reviews
Despite minor issues with previous bookings (going through rooms and using things without asking permission and then cancelling another booking with very short notice) I gave Priya the benefit of the doubt because my blind rescue dog, Héra, seemed to like her when they initially met. However, this time I specifically asked that Priya do the booking alone (not with her partner and their dog) because that seemed to be a bit much for my blind dog, given that she doesn’t know them. However, I had a guest staying at my house and when I asked her how everything went she said the following: Priya walked into her room while she was sleeping (Priya didn’t know she was home. Totally my fault as I thought I included it in a message but I forgot so I fully accept that failing!). But why was Priya going through rooms? Secondly, the guest said Priya was not alone but was with Jamie; I specifically asked him not to be here! Third, the guest said Héra seemed very distressed because she was barking a lot in the middle of the night and early hrs of the morning (which she noted is unusual for Héra because Héra isn’t much of a barker and certainly never barks at night when we’re sleeping). This could be because Priya and Jamie were in one room whilst they left Hera in my room. Héra is blind and likes to be close to humans (it makes her feel safe). I booked a sitter because I wanted Héra to have company and not be alone (not just for walks and toilet breaks and feeding) but it seems she was left alone and was displaying distressing behaviour which made me very upset when I heard about that. I fully accept that I should have informed Priya about the guest staying in my home but I think it is unacceptable to bring the very person I said not to bring to my house into my house. Especially without communicating with me about it first. She could have called me anytime (she called me during the first booking, so she knows how this function works) but she decided to not call me at any point during the booking to express any concerns she may have had. I then had to spend an entire day finding a replacement sitter which totally took away from the point of having a sitter! I will certainly not use Priya again and would not recommend her unless you want to book someone who goes ahead and does things you specifically ask them not to do for the safety and well-being of your dog.
Héra liked Priya immediately upon meeting her. Priya seems very relaxed and knowledgeable about dogs. She was very open and good at commmuniction, although sometimes slow to respond. I felt comfortable leaving Hera with Priya. I was a bit nervous about her bringing her dog and partner also to stay but trusted they would manage the introductions in a safe manner, which it was. I would recommend her.
I think Priya and her partner Jamie would make great pet caregivers. They are both experienced dog parents, who are devoted to ensuring their dog has the best care and attention possible. They are incredibly knowledgeable about what is needed to nurture and maintain the physical and emotional wellbeing of their dog. Jamie was a trusted pet sitter for my dog over many years, including when I was away on holiday, and my dog was always happy and well cared for during these times. Priya and Jamie are animal lovers, who show true compassion towards animals in need, examples being, not only them providing a loving home for their rescue dog, but very recently, when they took responsibility for ensuring a stray dog in distress was able to receive the medical attention it needed. I have no hesitation in recommending Priya and Jamie to you.
