Pet care experience
Hey there! My name is Porter and I'm "that person". The one that will stop talking mid-conversation to go pet a dog. My husband is used to it, but I regularly abandon him to cross the street to "hi" to whatever meatball or floof walks past me. I also nickname every dog that I've known for more than 15 minutes. First and foremost, I’m not in this for the money, as you’ll see from my rates. I work from home 2-3 times a week and while my husband and I would love a dog of our own, my days in the office are far too long to allow it. So I’m hoping to find a max of one or two clients in the Leesburg area for dog sitting and walking. I love dogs and have owned or cared for them my entire life. I'm especially partial to "the weens", or dachshunds, as I grew up with them, but I've cared for everything from dachshunds, to mini-schnauzers, Irish Setters, Rottweilers, Huskies, Labs, and everything in between. I'm available for walks, check ins, or day care in the immediate Leesburg, VA area and I can't wait to get to know you and your pup more!

Lily’s stay with Porter was amazing! She took such great care of our pup, sent us pictures every day, and genuinely made us feel comfortable with having our dog stay at her house :) We will definitely be using her again in the future!!
Porter is such a natural with dogs! She posted updates of how our Luna was doing, and boy did she have a wonderful time with her. Porter gave her lots of exercise and affection and could easily be a dog trainer as well- Luna didn't want to come home I think!! We are so lucky to have such a wonderful dog sitter and such great peace of mind when we need to leave Luna with her.
There are few people I trust to watch my dog while I'm away, but Porter is absolutely one of them! Porter has watched my dog Oliver when I'm away for a long weekend and he was treated with long walks, and many belly rubs. Porter has always been a dog lover. We work together and I've heard many stories of her going for a run and stopping to pet every dog she sees. She had pups growing up and even had a dog sitting business back in the day. With her experience with so many dogs I know she she will keep a sharp eye out for Oliver, understands dogs and will spoil him, just like he deserves!

Below are a sample of my questions. -Is your dog fully house trained (note I can only accept pets that are house trained to go outside) -What is your dog reactive to? - Example, squirrels, cars, other dogs, loud noises -Please describe their feeding schedule and quantity -How often do you let your dog out to use the bathroom? -Any rules I should follow? - Ex, not allowed on furniture, no table scraps, sit whenever we stop on a walk, etc -Does your dog not like to be touched/picked up? - Example, may not like their feet or belly touched -What is your dog's favorite type of play? - Tug of war, fetch, etc Breed preferences: Nope! I love all dogs and am open to watching all types of breeds! In the past I've cared for everything from Dachshunds, to Labs, Irish Setters, Rottweilers, and Huskies and I love them all!
A typical day
First and foremost, couch snuggles. Secondly, lots of walks. I'm an active person and like to move around and be outdoors as much as possible. In nice weather, we'll be outside every few hours and might even go on a jog! I love for dogs to be with me for as much as possible which includes trips to Home Depot, a lunch outing, etc. They'll be by my side all day!
