MESSAGE FOR LONG TERM STAY RATES (10+ days) OR REPEATING DAYCARE VISITS. I had two cockatiels growing up (from 8th grade, on). They are still alive and well, living back home with my parents. Extended family and friends have had dogs and cats their whole lives and I have taken care of them when they have needed sitters. I have also had tropical fish for long periods of my life - a 10 and 25 gallon tank when I was in Middle School through High School, and a 10 gallon for the last 3 years. My partner has had dogs and cats her whole life, and we want to have our share of farm animals when we get our own place and our careers/vocations are more stable. We are both grad school students, so ownership is out of the question currently. We are looking to get our fur and feather fix in the meantime and would love to help owners take care of their pets in any way possible! Especially with birds, I know how hard it can be to find a quality, knowledgeable sitter who understands specifically how to take care of them. I don't think our family ever found anyone who actually fit that description. We found people who we trained quickly to become bare minimum competent in taking care of our birds for a week or so (changing water/food, cleaning droppings), but nobody that really understood how to provide adequate/great long term care. I am a bit of a bird nut, I love them. I love dogs and cats as well, and as stated, my partner has had lifelong personal ownership and care of dogs and cats, and is pursuing a career in Applied Behavioral Analysis, so loving, caring for and training for good behavior in all animals (including humans) is her forte. As a full time student (in online classes), I have high flexibility throughout the day, and always welcome excuses to get up and moving and outside and enjoying the outdoors. It's even better when I can have a pet alongside me!
