Pilar & Otto: Your pup’s 2nd fam!
Pet care experience
I have professionally dog sat for nine years for multiple families! I love all pups from all breeds and have a especial understanding with them. I have gone to basic dog training and continue to pursue education for my own dog to understand canine behavior and apply it to all interactions with my furry friends. I have experience administering medication for dogs and dealing with dogs with food sensitivities, special diets, and allergies.
Reviews
My dog and cat love Pilar! She always sends cute photos of her visits. Glad to have a reliable dog walker.
Everything worked out very nicely. Pilar really cared about how my pups were doing over the weekend and she sent me pictures after every walk. Will definitely enlist her help in the future.
I have known Pilar for many years. She has always been a very compassionate and caring person. She has also been in the pet care field for a long time where she has displayed a deep love and affection for animals. My pup absolutely adores her and is often times more excited to see her than me!
Pilar has been dog and house sitting for me for a couple years now. I’ve been on multiple trips out of the country and it puts my mind at ease knowing she is there with my pups. She knows I miss them so I get picture and message updates from her as well. She’s a very sweet person who loves dogs and my dogs lover her too!

My goal is to provide a second home and family to your pup! My apartment is a clean, safe, sun filled, happy home full of amenities for a spoiled pup: 7 pup beds, including a cave bed, a window bed with a downtown view, a high perch for sunbathing, and plenty of toys for play and stimulation! The apartment complex has three fenced in parks and plenty of doggy friends for playing! It is in downtown so it is plenty safe to walk, and just a few minutes away from Duke Forest if your pup is less a city pup and more the rugged type! I live with my partner, a pup lover, gentle muscle man who spoils everybody, and my own pup: Otto. Otto is a Shih Tzu mix, 14 lbs of pure cuteness and chill. He loves everybody and every dog, and instinctively knows what everyone needs: to play, to be left alone, cuddles, a hug. He can be a lap dog, or hike 5 miles, as long as you are just proud of him! My promise as a dog sitter is that I will love your pup as much as I love mine (maybe don’t tell Otto that), and that your pup will love me as me as much as they love you (ok, maybe just slightly less!).

Information Pilar R. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know what are the pups usual preferences, schedule, and rules at home. We want to keep everything as consistent as possible so they adapt to a new environment and a new person as best as possible. For example, tell me: are they allowed on the furniture? Do they sleep with you on the bed? What is their usual routine in the morning, and at bedtime? How many times do you take them out for walks? Very important: let me know if your pet has any allergies, food sensitivities, or medical conditions, and provide me with the name, phone number and address of your Veterinarian. Please let me know of any behavioral issues as well: How do they behave on a leash? Are they reactive to other dogs? How about bicycles, runners? Are they scared or anxious about something in particular? And finally, please make sure you provide me with the essentials: their food, their treats, their leash and collar with proper identification and rabies tag, and their favorite toy. Please note I do not walk any dog with a prong collar or anything that causes pain or discomfort.
A typical day
Walks are not only for potty breaks and exercise; they are the way pups interact with the outside world and each walk is a little adventure! For that reason, when I go on walks I let them safely sniff at their heart’s content and explore: it is their time! For the city pup, we can go walk downtown Durham where there is plenty of stimulation: lots of good smells, people to see, sounds to hear! For the rugged pup who is into nature , we can go to nearby trails like Duke Forest: there are plenty of birds to see and hear, ponds to cross over, and a tree canopy to keep us cool. For the pup who likes to roam free and run: there are three fenced in areas in my apartment complex to do that and a bigger grass area within a 5 minute walk. We can play fetch, tug of war, catch, hide and seek, or any other game your furry loved one likes! Let me know if you would like to work on any basic training commands, like Sit, Stay, Leave It, Heel, etc, or if you want them to walk in the leash a little more politely. We can work on that during his stay-and I promise it will be fun! My dog Otto is great companionship, but is very attentive to the needs of others and very chill, so he will be an excellent sibling and companion during your pup’s stay.
