Experienced Dog Caretaker

Pet care experience

Hi there! My name is Peter, and I'm the dog walker/sitter you've been searching for! As a fitness enthusiast and a "city-walker" (I walk fast and with purpose!), you can rest assured that when you hire me to take your dog on a walk, he/she is getting the most exercise for the time that you're paying for. With over six years of additional experience volunteering in a humane society shelter and fostering diverse dogs, I can care for all breeds, temperaments, ages, and dog sizes. This background, coupled with my personal experience raising dogs, including my own 2-year-old husky/Australian cattle dog mix, ensures I'm well-equipped for everything from basic obedience training to catering to the unique needs of each pet. Your dog's well-being and happiness are my top priorities, whether they're a playful puppy or a senior. FOR MY HOUSE/DOG SITTING SERVICES: PLEASE read the following prior to submitting your request (this will save us both time and energy)! In your request I kindly ask that you include the following information so that we can quickly book you and make sure everyone is on the same page! 1. How often do you, ideally, need me to physically be at the house during the day and/or night for the length of this booking? If you’re requesting me for weekday house sitting, for example, I have work/obligations during the day that I often can’t reschedule (especially on short notice), so I need to know what kind of schedule you’d like or need me to adhere to for the booking. 2. Are you OK with my dog, Griffin (a well-trained 2-year old 50lb Aussie/Husky mix), joining me at any point during the house sitting? If you say yes to this, I am MUCH more likely to be able to accommodate unusual schedules, last minute requests, etc. as he is my primary responsibility. This IS NOT a requirement, however, and I will likely still be able to accommodate you even if Griffin cannot accompany me (depending on my schedule). These questions/answers will expedite the booking process for both of us, and make sure we each clearly understand the expectations and desires for the booking. Feel free to number your answers according to what I have above to make it easier. The more information you can provide (about your travel plans, pet(s), and house/location) the better!!

Peter is so awesome!! His communication was great and we felt so comfortable having him walk our boy! We can’t wait to use him again :)

Peter was highly communicative and professional. He was patient with my older dog, who was not in the mood for a walk, and understood her need to simply enjoy the fresh air. My younger dog was given proper attention and exercise … thus he handled “two at one time” with ease. I appreciated Peter’s informative and cheerful reports. I would definitely book him again.

Peter has been so great to work with I almost hesitate to leave a review in case he gets so popular with other Rovers that it becomes hard to book with him!

Safety, trust & environment

As mentioned above, I have my own 2-year old dog; he is extremely good with other dogs and just wants to play (at all times). He will not be joining me on drop-in visits, walks, or other services at your home (unless you specify that you would like me to bring him, in which case I would be happy to do so to give your dog a playmate to get extra energy out). Ultimately, I will take care of your pet according to your preferences and am happy to discuss what I can and will do to make you and your pet comfortable.

Information Peter B. would like to know about your pet

For your pet's safety, it's important for me to have a good understanding of his/her tendencies so that I can be prepared; for instance: 1. Does he/she like to eat things on the ground? 2. Is he/she leash, people, kid, or dog-reactive? 3. Is he/she an escape/flight risk? Knowing these things (and other similar quirks) ahead of time will allow me to best take care of your pet. So please: the more information you can provide the better!

A typical day

As someone with a very high-energy dog, I have come up with a number of unique and clever ways to keep dogs engaged even if they aren't able to get outside and run on their own. One method I use to get some mental exercise is by hiding training treats in toys, blankets, and other random items to force him to sniff out and discover the treats himself. I also frequently train my dog on basic commands in various locations (indoors, in parks, etc.) to ensure consistent obedience. I pride myself on being able to make the most of situations, time, and resources to keep dogs engaged and active, but please feel free to let me know if you have your own preferences on how to exercise your pet!

Rover/dog walking is my primary occupation, so I take this responsibility very seriously and know from firsthand experience how important it is to find a responsible, communicative, and honest caretaker! I am flexible, generally, during the week (less so in the middle of weekdays from approximately 11-1PM) and occasionally on weekends. I try very hard to keep my schedule updated, so please make sure to check it out if you're curious about my services!
