My partner and I are both remote workers living in Tahoe Donner and we’re excited to offer your dogs a kind and attentive home for their stay. We don’t have a fenced in yard, but we have a very quiet neighborhood with a lot of space for safe walking and potty breaks. We also live very close to a lot of trails for longer walks and hiking. If you’re comfortable, I’m happy to also take your dog skiing with me in the winter! While we don’t have a dog of our own any more (our border collie passed away of old age last year), we love having dogs around and there are a lot of neighborhood dogs we know for your dog to play with. Questions I’d love answered when booking: - is your dog friendly with other dogs? - is your dog reactive to anything I should know about? - does your dog have any special dietary restrictions? - are there any behaviors, commands/tricks, obedience you’d like us to work on? - do you allow your dog on the couch and beds? - what are their needs/timeline for potty breaks, exercise? - how long are they able to be left alone (say we’re on work calls, want to pop out for errands/skiing/social time)

I can easily accommodate your pets needs, whatever they may be. My house is located on a quiet residential street where I can easily walk your pets around the block as much as needed or access the Donner Rim Trail or other nearby trails for hikes. Dogs are usually not left alone in my home, but we keep a tidy and safe house just in case to make sure your pets are as safe as possible. I’ll make sure to familiarize your pets to everything in the house and keep an eye on anything you mention to make sure their most comfortable.

I can cater to your dogs needs whatever they may be, but good information to have would be how they react to other people and animals, if there’s anything that really aggravates them, if they have any medical requirements, what kind of daily exercise they are used to, if they are prone to chewing or shredding belongings, and if/how long they can be left unattended (not that I would plan to for long).
A typical day
I like to stimulate the dogs who stay with me physically and mentally. If you have any tricks or training you’re working on, I’d love to keep that going with your dog! I usually take dogs staying with me out every 2-3 hours for a quick potty break depending on their needs and walk around my house to enjoy some smells, and then do longer walks at the beginning and end of day at least after meals. If needed, I’ll do a midday or afternoon longer stretch of hiking/walking on the trails by my house, or fetch if your dog enjoys that. If you provide any toys like puzzles, tug, or bones I’ll also make sure your dog gets some of those every day. I don’t have a fenced in yard, but I do have a large and safe deck in the sun that pets in my home usually love to hang out on.

I work remotely full-time, but have a flexible schedule and love having dogs around to keep me walking or enjoying the outdoors. It’s easy for me to stay flexible with changing routines.
